First flakes of snow spotted, wind has picked up in the last few minutes, leaves blowing around all over the place. This is getting interesting.

Pete

Same here, small flakes blowing about in the strong wind

Temp has dropped to 2.1c here now, down from 2.9c an hour ago. Rain has turned to a sleety, icy mix. I would imagine it is falling as snow on the surrounding hills, which since they already have several centimetres, could end up with some good snow depths in the next 48 hours. Down here we are marginal it could be 15cm of snow or it could be mostly rain. Will be interesting to see.

Yes Hywel, I imagine so.. here in Heswall there won't be any marginality either so it should start, and finish as snow. 102m asl isn't much but it often makes a difference compared to more northern parts of the peninsula. Interesting times!

Admittedly its turned back to what is called "Eira Man"....a kinda Fine snow...moderate nonetheless ... sadly not yet sticking on all surfaces.

Started off as snow from the off......a good sign!

(700ft asl - under Hiraethog/Clocaenog forest)

Now wheres that poster from Glyn Ceiriog? ... Hes in the firing line I think....Southern slopes, perfect storm :p.

Cadwch yn ddiogel! Keep safe !

I really hope we get some snow here, only half an hour away from the 'sweet spot' but at only 5m asl and to the west we always seem to miss out :( totally clear here atm, no precipitation at all.

Woop!...Finally sticking to all surfaces.

Guessing then that the Snowline is around the 700ft/750ft asl mark...as of right now (and dropping!)..as grass just starting to turn white here

I wonder whether Wrexham will get the hit everyone forecasts?! Sleet possibly? Excuse my ignorance; been following the forums for the last 3 months and so thought it would be a good day to post my first reply. With Wrexham 69m ASL, does this impede the risk of snow such - especially this event?

Very heavy rain and strong winds this evening here at St Clears, also back home where 18mm has fallen since 1900, including 9mm in the hour to 2130! Could be sleet back home as it's 2.9c?

High uppers seem to hog the N and W coast until Saturday.

http://www.wetterzen...cs/Rmgfs302.gif (6pm friday)

Also dewpoints around 0C

So borderline for snow at sea level here I think, but time will tell!

Although the precipitation will be lighter on Saturday, both uppers and dewpoints fall, so more risk of snow here on Saturday smile.png

It's often the case for us in West Wales that by the time the uppers are low enough the precipitation is dying out.

Heavy snow with seriously strong winds, blizzard bordering on total whiteout. Drifts starting to form
