I search for thunder and downpours during summer which are just as rare, if not more so, than snow. So I'm here all year round searching fir interesting weather. I would highly recommend people go on the net weather storm chase as the storms over there were pretty obscene!

Some good lumps showing on the radar out to the East. Some quite heavy stuff has passed to the North between Aberdeen and Dundee with snow showers from Forfar up to Laurencekirk or so. More on the way so someone could get lucky.

Reports coming in of crops of winter oilseed rape succumbing to frosty wind crop scorch in the east of England. They nearly made it to the spring but the lack of an insulating layer of snow in lots of areas has lead to the deaths of these crops. Seems also that a lot of sheep have been lost due to huge drifts in Northern Ireland, NW England and SW Scotland.

Here at home it is currently -2c.

The surrounding countryside is now brown in colour with frost scorch everywhere, daffodils in suspended animation and very little green. It looks and feels like early February.

This is also about the time of year when I usually have an occasional drive inland on a cold day to find falling snow but over the last week or so we have had flakes of snow everyday so have been getting my spring snow fix at home

Braw day here, some sun, and loads of snow showers throughout. (Mind you will be glad of some spring heat!)

FF£cksake

Work the morn. Should go to bed.

Big beefy showers just lining up for me though at Berwick.

So, hit the hay and wake up tae snaw? Or stay awake and watch them pass by or fade away 10 miles inland.

Tough one, tough one...

Everywhere is white again, good heavy shower. Looks like more on the way and showers piling into Edinburgh too soon by the looks of things.

NW's very own meteorological Gandalf, John Holmes, calling it cold - though not quite as frigid - for the next 16 days: http://forum.netweat...00#entry2667134

Best not dig out the shorts & t-shirt just yet then. whistling.gif

PG, if you're still up look outside - lying snow even on the roads in Edinburgh, on the 27th March! Incredible snow shower hit about 1am, very heavy, covering on all surfaces. More to come overnight by the looks of the radar - some really intense showers out there in the North Sea.
