Chase Day 29 - NM, TX, maybe far W OK panhandle

Call me weird, but I quite like the far NE corner of NM this evening. Not much mention on SPC but flow, topography and 60F+ moisture may be enough to promote cells in this region.Either that or a trip right down to the high plains of SW TX - phew, what a scorcher.

Hi Neil,

 

Yep defo NOT Going for the SW Texas, Big Bend risk today, for a few obvious reasons.

 

1. You risk your life in some of those parts of the Texas / Mexico border

2. Roads near the Davis and Sacramento Mountains are almost non existant

3. We need to chase tomorrow SW Kansas, OK Panhandle where I am certain a Slight Risk will be introduced.

 

Will certainly have a look at the potential in NE New Mexico though

Also, looks like there could be a half decent risk of tornadoes on Saturday, maybe upgrade to Moderate, over eastern/northeastern Kansas, so I guess it's not worth going any further south!

Currently sat west of Amarillo watching the live funeral service for Tim, it is in Denver.

we are moving to the north west into the  NE corner of New Mexico.  With an intention of spending the night in Dumas , Texas.

Now booking into a hotel in Dumas   decided that nothing is going to happen, this side of midnight at least.  If it does come our way it will be a bonus.

Not really a bust , we knew we'd be lucky to catch anything coming in from New Mexico without putting ourselves out of position, given Stormscape spent the day at White Sands , Paul made the right call so realistically it was a down day.....

We got from yesterday what we expected and had planned on staying where we stayed and we ate Thai.  Went went a little west and watched for a while but I think after Friona , some were grateful to chill out a little.

 

I did have one eye on something drifting down into Dumas but I am ever the optimist. 

 

Down days are ok from time to time but Chicken George and I are out to chase storms.

 

By the way George gets jumpy went I mention 'down'
