The first major snow event here since at least the mid-nineties. We've seen plenty of the stuff since then!

This was a fairly decent event here, giving a decent fall on the afternoon of the 8th (a few centimetres) and only gradually thawing through the 9th (with more falling snow).

 

Certainly nice after the shockingly mild December and January.

It was the 9th when it snowed here too if I recall.

Forecasters seem to struggle with this spell, note in the above forecasts that Friday was suppose to be largely dry for most of Wales and Midlands but on Friday's forecast, a weather warning is issued and the precipitation is further north and more active.

We had 8cm here in Headington,Oxon on the Thurs 8th Feb 2007, the 8th & 9th saw a few more Cm's before it turned to sleet and rain during Saturday early hours.
