The last week of October 2008 was unusually cold with some of the earliest season snowfalls in the south for years.

On that wintry mix   It turned into 3 to 4 hrs of heavy snow in Birmingham on the 28th and over night minima of -3

Exceptionally cold and snow for the end of October,won`t be forgetting that in a hurry,coldest and most snow I`ve seen for October,more that most Novembers.

Cold started later on the 27th with some late snow,then with 3 inches by the 30th.

Even London had a covering, yes and all Shrewsbury got was an hour of sleet in the middle of 12 hours of cold rain. A total non event here.
