Can you tell me how this is generated ?

Quite often 30 or 40% is shown - I would have thought that storm chances are pretty much nil now with no heat or humidity to fuel storms - and that this indicator really comes into its own between late spring and summer when storm chances are at their greatest

There have actually been quite a few storms in western parts of late, and are even some strikes showing up on the lightning detector this morning as the latest system moves in. The risk numbers themselves are created using a number of factors.
