Got a bit bored, so made a radar run of the 2 supercells to hit Yorkshire/Lincolnshire today.

Can see sporadic flickers of very elevated lightning from MK at the minute, appears to be coming from the north, east and south east. Haven't heard any thunder, but it's unusually quiet out tonight almost ghostly and looks a little hazy due to the humidity. Very strange indeed.  :nea:

Paris is going to have a long period of storm activity, looking at how it is tracking up and over the city. Bremen looks like it is is going to get eaten up by the massive German storm, however that does seem to be dividing and it probably will just skirt either side of Bremen completely. Still radar watching to see if anything reaches here, meanwhile eating far too many Ricola sweets than I should be in an attempt to stay awake and be ready to dash out to try to capture some lightning (hoping in vain, I think)

Thundery UK showers don't quite cut the mustard when looking at/watching the storms over France/Belgium/Germany. :-D

In my experience, the best storms are not the ones forecast, but the ones that catch us by surprise :)

First night time storm since that monster one last summer! Saw at least 9 flashes with a few deep rumbles, but it wasn't a direct hit. Not to bad seems as it was supposed to be dry tonight!

Our weather patterns have certainly changed, storms nearly always take a track up the dover straights or into Belgium.. No idea why

Very heavy large convective rain drops falling in MK now, appears to be a cell rapidly developing to my south west and one towards Northampton. Something odd going on cause these are springing up in a matter of minutes. Wonder if there has been an unexpected trough develop and it's causing the release of all the mid level energy in the atmosphere?  :cc_confused:

Looks like Bremen and Hannover are taking a beating from that monster storm.

Hamburg will be in the firing line soon.

Can see flashes but they are disappearing amongst cloud - difficult to tell which cells they are coming from
