Why use MOS products?

So, I've used MOS products when looking at multiple sources for Min Temp, Max Temp, 6 and 12 hr precip probabilities, etc. Including them in my forecast process became a habit for a long time, but I don't recall why MOS products are useful and why they should be "trusted" or considered.

 

So why are MOS products useful?

 

When should MOS products be used and when shouldn't they be trusted or used?
