I'm not hoping I think it's highly unlikely

It's 4.4 here in Farnham, Surrey clear skies and lovely sun, guessing once the sun goes down the temps will drop considerably!

If it's low enough is anyone's guess!

Still it's beautiful out there and the fire is roaring in here so all good!

Shame we can't have a thread for the positive optimistic helpful posters and one for the doom and gloom merchants. LOL

Surrey could you put a GFS PPN prediction for 9pm side by side with the METO one I posted if you get a chance.

Shall we just wait until the 12z runs and the fax charts come out, before writing off the snow for being to far north, east or west ;-)

Just got back in and checked the 06z Arpege run and there's a slight improvement on even this morning's positive charts. Continues to look good for snowfall in the area shown on the snowfall accumulation chart for 10.00 Sunday morning, showing up to 3 or 4cm. The temp and dewpoint charts are for 03.00 overnight as the snow arrives and show 2m temps below 0C and dewpoint -1C to -2C.

So far this 'cold spell' has been pretty average January fayre so far - temps got down to 0.5c this morning and maxes of 4.6 and 4.9c the last couple of days - still ahven't had an air frost so far this winter which is ridiculous! - not sure if we'll get anything in the way of snow either but seems a lot of people seem to be hoping rather than expecting at the moment.

Unless you're in Kent lol

But certainly in this part of East Kent for instance I wouldn't really expect anything from this sort of set up. If you go back and look at the situations that say in the last 10 years have led to significant snowfall in these parts, the majority have been from troughs and shower trains from the North Sea. So we should wish those in the West of region all good fun from this, and our turn will come, surely you remember 2010 and some years since Kent folk?

4.1c here, if any ppn arrives, it'll be after nightfall so hopefully fall as snow. Apparently expecting a sharp temp drop tonight, afraid I think I'm too far east!
