I read a comment earlier in the thread, that said they thought the activity was going to be more widespread.

Great that so many places that only get thunder/lightning once every few years have had a good dosing.

in Cardiff we very rare get storms here, is there a trend going off previous years that lightning is decreasing in frequency?

I think the last storms have done it for here now - there seems to be a bit clag in the sky and the storms coming over the Pennines are petering out.  Not sure the CAP will erode this afternoon but who knows...a bit further south from here and the band is re-intensifying again..

Absolutely shuggee! As much as i'm a tad jelly of the action up North, i'm not disheartened about the lack of activity down here, as you've all been starved of it. It's a cracking looking map!

Some of us are still starved! Last thunderstorm here was in October last year. Since then we have had literally 1 rumble of thunder.

We had a few drops of rain earlier from some showers moving to the north of here, though the sun is out now.

2016 is rapidly turning into our worst year for thunder ever. Can't remember any year being as bad as this one.

Sky has cleared and sun out at full pelt. Hope this could be a last ditch effort to ignite those showers in the Bristol area.

Looks like it's all fizzling out, I really would not have expected that considering the conditions. Rather disappointed at the minute.

yes - appart from an early storm this year - which didn't do alot anyway - it's been a bit sparse around here too - either to the left (swansea way) or to the right (up the gwent valleys and bristol/gloucester way) - maybe our time will come on the next one

Looks like the uplift over the Welsh hills is starting to sparks off showers

They have sparked up pretty quickly......seem to be traveling in a NE direction...might be of interest in South Staffs later on.....exploding on sat 24

I'm free until later this evening so fully intend on getting to see this if it continues to strengthen and head this way, willing to drive a few miles if needed

All dead across this region folks - what time does the warning realistically go up to?

Sun is poking back through though so maybe some diurnal heating to get things going?

That front is passing over me now and has fizzled out just a few drops of rain, plenty of blue sky behind though

Cu field has appeared around London in the past hour, coinciding with rocketing temperatures (after a hazy/cloud patch moved across late morning). Temperatures are around 28C/29C here right now, perhaps might squeeze a 30C in these parts in the next hour or so.

I am thinking based on the look of the sky there could well be some isolated convection through the evening here, in line with recent forecast/warnings updates.

Jealous of those up North, those storms have appeared awesome.
