18th January 2007 was a memorable say for some parts of the UK when severe gales struck from a system that was called Kyrill

 

 

11 people were killed as a result of this storm in the UK

I remember the storm hitting its peak for NW England just after midday that day. It was one of the worst gales to hit the region since the Christmas Eve 1997 storm and for a time, it was hairy outside. A couple of neighbours lost roof slates, one damaging a conservatory.
