It seems an eternity but its finally come around, Chase Day 1 on Netweathers Day 1 looks like the short jaunt from Dallas Fort Worth to Illinois.  Its doable if we leave Tuesday and ping off a few hundred miles then travel into target on Wednesday.

Looking solid for all days after this until early next week so hitting the ground running once again.

Will update on the specifics and mesoscale nearer wednesday

Regards

Paul

That's great news a target day for most days too. Stay safe and get those massive supercells on to facefook shortly ⛈⚡

All the best to the intrepid chasers and the tour teams. A rather quiet mid-May pattern looks likely but as we’ve seen so many times a risk can develop out of nothing sometimes and you’re in good hands with Paul - if anyone can get you on a storm he can.

Good luck to tour 1 not too bad a slog 700/800 miles ish depending on actual target area and everyone getting in on time, and in time to allow the team to get away on Tuesday..  Springfield Mo is about 430 miles. Some guests will certainly be hitting the ground running.

Good luck Tour 1, looks like a few days or more of back-to-back low-end severe risks over the central Plains to ease you in, then hopefully something more substantial next week as the ensemble guidance hints at the upper pattern adjusting more to a western trough and E/ SE ridge typical of a -PNA setting up, though some uncertainty how deep the trough and thus how strong upper flow will be.

Correction to the above

We are chasing in Western Kansas today so see some lightning and maybe some gusty outflow winds, more solid risks tomorrow and Friday.

Good decision. The IL risk has receded further east, and with a three day risk in KS/NE from today I’d be taking the more relaxed option travel wise.

Good move Paul

Hope you and the guests get to see some nice CGs.  Lesson one they must shout CG !!! when they see one. Lesson two:  dont leave your tri-pod on its own in extreme winds.
