Dramatic Weather Picked Up Late By The Models

I've nothing particularly in mind. But I have been thinking that, not only has the winter of 2019-20 thus far been starved of the cold and snow that so many of us hope to see, but there have even been precious few model projections of the sort of Narnia conditions we hanker after!  Although the former is not unusual, I can't remember a winter when the models have proved some scrooge like in the hope they have provided us with, irrespective of how false that hope often proves to be.

Maybe the models are getting better?   Naturally I'm hoping there's a huge 48 hour flip from what the models are not showing and we will suddenly be in a six week period of bitter cold and heavy snow.

So it set me thinking ...what would register as the biggest short term flip, inside 48 hours?  A spell of weather we ended up having that practically nothing in the models indicated we would have 48 hours earlier?
