Just got absolutely hammered here in central Manchester. Never seen/heard anything quite like it: sideways rain, rain that travels up the side of buildings and deafening wind. Multiple sirens blaring out across the city now. It’s the apocalypse people.

Yipes, what a wind and rain storm, take a look at the radar for this area as one screams through here. No idea of the wind but will check on the airport when get a chance. Vis fell to below 600m in heavy driving rain T from 13.6 to 8.1 and almost 8mm rain in a very short time, again not had chance to check Davis rainfall, but it must have lost a fair amount due the wind.

I have never seen such poor visibility in rain in this country, reminded me of Singapore!

Yep, extreme rainfall here in Macclesfield, so heavy that visibility was 50m briefly.  A notable line squall moving east over the last few hours. Manchester Airport reported thunder and a gust of 75kn (86mph) at 1120, which I did not believe until the radar revealed the squall, so I am sure it was real.
