IMO the euro 4 is not that good think about winter and its snow predictions very poor.

 The euro 4 often tends to underestimate shower activity and the Arome tends overdo it. Fingers crossed for the Arome to be closer to the mark as it looks peachy for today.

A hot humid 31c and hazy sunshine here in S Cheshire after last nights epic storms. Hottest day of the year here beating yesterday’s 30c and July 31st’s 30.5c Very rare to get the hottest day of summer in August in recent years usually its mid-late July.

I know it's not an official reading but my garden thermometer which is shaded on the back fence has just hit 34.3c,this is the highest it has ever reached here.

Who does the warnings for  the Met Office? 

My location is under a thunderstorm warning up and including Monday and yet read the text forecast for region

 Thursday will be dry and mainly sunny, although with some cloud here or there.

Friday and Saturday should be mostly dry and cloudy before further locally heavy showers develop on Monday

So why does that warrant  a met office warning of thunderstorms from now until Monday?

because they are very difficult to predict I think, and as the scottish situation has shown potentially dangerous .  Warnings are there to warn of possile danger, not as a heads up to weather fans.

Major flash flood from that south Cumbria storm. Trying to head home now stuck waiting for this to go down! Will have to abandon the van and go on foot as farmer says there is 12 ft of wall in the road where the beck has burst though. Hate to think what it's like further north as I was only on the edge of this.

Popped up just like that around Wigan and barely moved...16:40 nothing on radar...20 mins later...Boom.  Hoping we get a few pop-ups around the GM area before too long, the heats been incredible outdoors at work today.

Lol! Was thinking the very same thing. Hard to imagine the data has changed that dramatically in the four intervening hours between warnings and forecast being issued for the next five days.

I was hoping for some imported action from the Midlands as per the Arome but looking at the current situation I think a pop-up cell is our best chance today.

Im in sight of a beefy shower moving up from east Wales.... however.. it is not electrified for some reason. Ive stood watching it for the last 10 minutes and its just a rain shower it would seem. It looks menacing all the same but not producing. I can only presume there is a deficit of CAPE here near the coast (was forecast to be fair) which is quickly killing any storms. I would definitely heard the thunder by now at this range no doubt. Its still early though.
