Interesting if you look up BBC News on YouTube,  theres a fair bit of video appearing from the early 80s with the added bonus that you do get the Weather forecasts appearing. 1982 is especially prolific (in part to the Falklands War)

Here's a classic from May Day 1982 which appears to be one of the coldest although I have no memory of that day- but shows snow to low levels with Michael Fish.
