Dry with hazy sunshine through a lot of Ci, a final air frost for the month with a low of -0.4 C, making a total of 13 with 19 ground frosts. Utterly staggering for any winter month let alone April

A dry night with lengthy clear periods. Just missed an air frost but, then again, air frosts at this time of year at this site are about as common as hen's teeth so to get close is quite noteworthy. Dry with sunny spells and building Cu so far this morning.

Clear spells overnight, widespread ground frost  and just missing an air frost. Short shower which was possibly wintry around dawn. Sunny spells this morning, cloud bubbling up quickly producing showers in the area. A few spots of rain here at obs. Now 24 ground frosts here this April, obliterating the local record which stood at 17 in 1991 and 2016. Air frost record also broken with 12. Previous record was 11 in 2016. A good deal of cloud at times producing showers, these moderate with small hail by late afternoon. Also some sunny spells.

Clear for the first half of the night, just managing the 14th air frost of the month with a min of -0.1C. The second half of the night saw a gradual increase in cloud amounts though still sunny for the moment.

Currently 8.4C so we're comfortably on course to beat 1986 for the coldest April on record (a max of less than 14.4C today will ensure it).

Only 11 winter months since 1980 have seen more than the frosts we've had this month!
