I'm surprised how often Tain Range appears at the lower reaches of overnight minimum temperature, as last night.  Would have thought this unlikely given the coastal location, unless it's all down to the sandy soil?

Ignore that.  The temperature reading seems to be 'frozen' on zero degrees as shown on Netweather list  Ogimet says nil report.

Mostly cloudy here today and much milder with only a couple of spots of rain in the wind. Max 13.4C.

Another local hill overcome today. Craigowl, the highest point in the Sidlaws which despite having lived half my adult life in or near Dundee I had never been up before. Looking up towards the Highlands a lot of snow has gone this week from the hills, much probably today.

Slept most of the day so only have a fleeting impression of grey overcast, breezy and cool to report. Nice to be in a comfortable bed though.

Sun trying to brake up the cloud so very humid and mild at 12c.    Not drying up well though ,ground still very soggy.

Grass is later to grow as red clover needs heat to fix N but continues to grow well into the autumn. High protein silage from this so less bought in protein for cattle bought in from round the world another contribution to CO2 lowering. That's a dog not a bee. Goes woof not bzzzzzzzzzzz.... Ahem. Sorry.

Ground wet here still too despite us being on the Ness and having what must be one of the freest-draining subsoils possible. Too much rain the other day and very little wind or sun since.

Took a look at last field to sow this evening and there were a couple of ducks swimming in some puddles so nothing dried up today and it looked and felt  like a winters evenng at 7c even without any wind. Has been a very miserable April on the whole.

Harr in abundance in Aberdeen but lovely and sunny here; dividing line between the extremes around Dunecht earlier this afternoon.

Cold and miserable feeling in Aberdeen with car reading 8c, 12c here but feeling warmer than that in the sun.

Surprisingly wet overnight with all surfaces soaking first thing.

Struggled to get diesel today, usual supermarket stops in Aberdeen sold out, premium retailers unaffected.  Combination of Easter rush and people trying to save money where possible I suspect.

It's brightened up here through the day and is rather warmer, but still no better than average for the time of year.

Ms HC was out in the car earlier and reports serious congestion in Inverness. I don't think they're saving money (or anything else) sitting in idling cars somehow.

After a surprisingly wet start to the day as @Quinachsaid, it eventually cleared up and by the time I walked the dog around 4pm it was 14/15C with well broken cloud. Only a naggingly strong breeze took the edge off what was easily the most pleasant weather for a while. Fields around here starting to show a green haze on the bare earth, which surprises me given how cool its generally been, with snow falling only last week.

Overnight minimum of 11c giving the first night this spring of uninterrupted grass growth so hoping to get cattle to grass soon as long as it stays dry and mild

Lovely day.

Best of the strong sunshine in the morning, very hazy in the afternoon.

Winds picked up for a time around lunchtime but generally light.

Max of 16c, currently 8c.

First 20c of the year recorded at 2.30pm yesterday. Countryside really greening up As ground dries lots of tractors moving trying to catch up after wet weather delays. A but overcast this morning but still dry

Garden says 18.5°C but bit suspiciously high compared to weather stations elsewhere. Will have to check positioning hasn't shifted... But nevertheless, what a scorcher!

The consensus among the weather apps is that it's around 17°C and the sun is shining through a very thin overcast so it feels very pleasant, even more so as I'm sitting out the way of a briskish breeze. No sign of rain so far.

Last remaining pair of snow patches in southern Scotland?

PXL_20220417_142143737.jpg

Northern slopes of Dollar Law this afternoon in the distance through the warmth and haze.

Ended up with 19.4°C in the garden - and happy with that in the end looking at other local amateur sites and having checked the sensor positioning. So a wait now until once again we approach 20°C, mind you that was 30 May last year!

Over staying with friends near Dunvegan on Skye for a few days. Sounds like we timed it wrong - thoroughly miserable day with continuous rain and occasional quite gusty winds.

Not all bad though - managed to take advantage of the very low tide and found some nice oysters for dinner. Hoping to get the wetsuits on tomorrow and dive for some scallops.

Another very acceptable day.

Cloudy morning, that clearing a bit in the afternoon but even then the sunshine was very hazy indeed.

A touch cooler as a result with a max of 15c and generally light winds.

Bennachie barely visible in the haze...

Not much better looking towards the Menaway Hills...
