This kind of follows on from the New Year thread.

At the opposite extreme, September 1 seems to have an extraordinary record for settled weather, notably since 1989 (less so earlier in the 80s).

Since 1989, the following years have had a settled September 1 from memory (? = not 100% sure; * = settled but mostly cloudy, other instances were mostly sunny)

1989, 1990?, 1991, 1993, 1995*, 1996*, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007*, 2010, 2011, 2012*, 2013, 2016*, 2017, 2018? (out of country), 2019, 2020 and 2021*. That is 24 years out of 33, quite an extraordinary record. The settled tendency of early Sep is well known but still quite a statistic - should we be delaying the date at which schools return I wonder?
