Really deserving of its own thread further highlighting just how abnormal the pattern that has developed during week 1 of July has been. Also will be a good case study into Sting Jet formations and rapid cyclogenisis linked to above average SSTs

The overall structure took on characteristics akin to tropical cyclones / hurricanes with rainbands and close to eyewall appearance

Denmark stats show there have only been summer cyclones in the past 151 years

For the Netherlands which is the region to get the sting jet this is the most severe wind speeds and gusts from a summer cyclone dating back 111 years

Looks like Ijmuiden is where the Sting jet impacted most severely with highest wind gusts 92mph and sustained speeds 69mph 🤯😳 (images from Twitter)

Amsterdam recorded an impressive 74/47.
