The Atlantic low which might bring wintry weather to southern England on Wednesday (hitting the cold Arctic air already in place) has been named Irene Meteo France 

Plenty of yellow wind warnings for northern Spain with rain warnings in places, also 2 amber wind warnings 

Rain and wind warnings for Portugal. 

It will then affect France and other central European countries mid-week with  disruptive snowfall being warned of already

Meteo France  'Episode of notable freezing rain which could make driving conditions difficult, followed by a locally significant episode of snow.' 

'On Wednesday, snowfall accumulations could reach 7 to 10 cm, locally 10 to 20 cm in the Upper Normandy/Picardy/Southern Nord-Pas-de-Calais area'

Northern France has been very wet in recent months, there are flood warnings from the mix of rain/sleet/snow and freezing rain forecast from this low.

Miserable conditions tonight and for Wednesday morning in the Channel Islands .

The overall theme is that the precipitation from Irene won't make it across The Channel, brushing southern Cornwall/Devon  in the small hours. Arome edges the precip. slightly further north before it fades away southwards again. It's close
