Iceland eruption still plodding along land rise is getting closer to the previous high so when and if it reaches that and passes it it could get interesting again.

This was yesterday's update so it's somewhat outdated, but gives some good prehistorical & recorded data about Ruang.

Interesting update on Met office web site in regards to the inflation so next week or two could be interesting. Will we get a new eruption or will the extra magma escape through the present vent?

Eejits were spotted walking out across the active lava-field and recent lava flows today as caught on Isak's livestream (2:13:10) The mind just boggles.

Icelanders have the right approach to stupid people. If you get into trouble we are not saving you.

The land seems to have stopped rising and there was a pause last time before the present eruption so it maybe brewing something or the inflow may have reduced suddenly and outflow is matching the inflow once again. Or it could be a slight pause.

As you were at Iceland ongoing inflation and ongoing eruption. Interesting comments on Icelandic web site about this being unique. Sadly not quiet true as Kilauea had inflation and ongoing eruption and the end result was that more fissures opened up or the eruption rate increased to compensate.

Pretty sure there was uplift at Fagradalsfjell an eruption when that first started but could be wrong.

Activity slowing down at the eruption site. The perched lake has now mostly crusted over with a few outbreaks. Land rise looking at near real time series is still ongoing.  I wouldn't be surprised if the present site shut down and another series of fissures opens up.

The PIT  JustIcelandic's recent video states that Icelandic volcanologists are expecting another eruption imminently (some are saying a day or two up to 7 days) although they be definitively sure that the next one will erupt along the same fissure-sequence as there's currently a seismic blackspot due to the liquified crust subduing any indicating tremors.

Vent nearly closed up so should be dead in the next day or so.  A waiting game still as to what happens next.

It's taken a little longer than expected but it looks like the present eruption has finally ended. So we now wait for the next one.

Fewer earthquakes today but the weather is lousy so probably not being detected. The uplift continues as does the wait for the next eruption.

In recent days there has been increased interest and over the top speculation on youtube in regards to Campi Flegrei.

Campi Flegrei has been having steady uplift since 2000 but at a much slower rate that seen before until the last few days where the uplift has suddenly accelerated.  Since it's classed as a supervolcano any twitching is good for the news media and for people to increase there subscription on youtube.

The last super eruption was about 15000 BP since then there has been numerous small eruption the last in 1538. Therefore a large caldera with many smaller craters and maars within and also part of the caldera is under water. It's extremely unlikely that there will be another super eruption and the most likely event is another eruption that formed Mounte Nuovo in 1538. However this will still cause major issues due to the high population in the area. Uplift before the eruption was much greater than it was now so we are still probably some time away from seeing the eruption. The eruption area at one time was suggested to be around Puzzoli and Solfatara area which isn't good.

I've been interested in area as when Vesuvius goes quite Campi Flegi tends to become more active. So I was wondering  if activity would pick up and the answer seems to be yes.

matty40s  The location is interesting right in Solfatara at a depth of 2.6 km.

Meanwhile Iceland slumbers and the wait goes on.
