  1. Nothing yet at Mumbles, dark clouds approaching. 2.4c, Wind 64mph
  2. I just drove up the road to Bishopston via Murton, and was very suprised to see a 1cm - 2cm covering of fresh snow on all surfaces with drifts of over 3cm. This was not there this morning at about 11am. Even a good sprinkling on the beach at Caswell.
  3. It snowed lightly to moderately here in Mumbles all morning and started to stick. I live right on the seafront - we are normally the last place to ever get snow. In fact, Mumbles is one of the only places in South Wales right now without lying snow (Excluding the sprinkling this morning).
  4. Heavier burst here at Mumbles seafront, now sticking.
  5. Light Snow here on the seafront in Mumbles. 24 hours of this and we will have at least 1 mm
  6. Lol, Traffic Wales don't use fibre anything, and fibre certainly wouldn't be affected by temperatures being 0c. Their site is just overloaded
  7. Raining lightly in Mumbles, it's thawed the little lying snow we had from a few days ago.
  8. As soon as I posted raining in Mumbles, it turned to snow.
  9. Arrgghhh, despite much of Swansea having a nice dusting, we have barely a flake on the ground here in Mumbles. It's not even as if the snow started off as rain, it just stopped as soon as it started
  10. Weather warning now out for much of Wales 4pm onwards. Outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow during Friday evening and the first part of the night, coupled with freezing temperatures are likely to cause widespread ice in places. Falls of a few cm of lying snow are expected locally.
  11. Yep, apparently the road is a death trap. Any idea what altitude the road reaches? I seem to have 400m in my head.
  12. A4061 between Treorchy and Nantymoel in RCT/Bridgend County closed.
  13. Temperatures are FINALLY dropping after a few hours of nothing but rain here. METO severe warning has been extended to a larger area, valid from 9am. A465 Highest Point traffic cam shows a covering of snow that wasn't there 30 minutes ago! http://members.traffic-wales.com/cctvimages/A465Camera2550.jpg
  14. Much bigger showers developing over the sea heading for South Wales
  15. It's not so much the snow, it's the 20 minutes of hail we had first
  16. BEDLAM here in Mumbles, main road and side roads coated in ice and snow. Several cars stranded, one accident already and I can't get out of my damn drive
  17. Heavy snow shower in Swansea (City Centre)! None of that sleety rubbish, pure heavy snow sticking to the dusting we had last night.
  18. Very loud thunderstorm here in Swansea early this morning, with a massive hail storm in the Mumbles area. Roads and all surfaces covered in large amounts of hail, nearly crashed the car doing just 10mph on Mumbles Road. Still hadn't cleared by 6am, did see a gritter with a snow plough on the front! Even now at 6:45pm, there are still pockets of hail that have survived the day. It's been a strange few days weatherwise. On Thursday at about 1pm on the M4 motorway near Bridgend, we suddenly had a massive hailstorm with marble sized hail. Just as it started (just about to start slowing down from 70mph) a car lost control on the hail (going more than 70mph) and crashed into a bus, right in front of my eyes. Just about avoided the bus, and behind me a lorry had to brake very quickly and lost control, veering off into the hard shoulder. Everybody in front just stopped due to the impossible driving conditions and we had to wait 20 minutes for the hail to start melting. It was so bad that the large matrix signs scattered around by the hard shoulder displayed "SEVERE WEATHER - STOP IN LANE IMMEDIATELY"
  19. What altitude are you at Adam? Also (wet) snow between Felindre and Garnswllt at 200m so can't be far off
  20. Well once again I have been out and about. The snow line as of 20 mins ago for the Swansea area is right on the border, 295m at Mynydd Y Betws. None of this sleety rubbish - just pure heavy snow.
