  1. Just had a torrential burst , with a huge wave of black stuff (sorry I'm a non techy) coming from the South (Welshpool / Newtown) - rumbles in the distant.

    My location - Llanymynech (SY22 6EW)

Looks quite nasty on radar...keeping a close eye on that one. Got two rumbles (1 close-ish strike) from the shower just passing me.

  2. For people in more northern counties, don't give up just yet! I've just zoomed out on the radar, seems to be an endless (until the radar range ends) stream of activity!

Pleantly more time for developments! drinks.gif

Already given up...the sight of that non-electrified moderate muck approaching me has killed off any last remaining hope I had.

Ah well...maybe next time. Good luck to everyone else though.

  3. SkyWarn UK Alert Update (11.30 UTC , 12.30 BST)

    http://www.skywarn.org.uk/current.html

Once this band making its way up from N.England clears through , i think the probability of the southern half of scotland getting t-storms is very high :drinks:

I would be inclined to remove North Wales from the threat area. Not out of negativity or pessimism but purely because it is just too cloudy and cool right now. Looking out right now I'd have to be realistic in assessing the current likelihood as no higher than 0%

  4. Just light rain here in Telford at the mo, still havent had an overhead storm since 28th July 2008 or was it 19th July 2007?

It would have been July 2008 because we got a good hit that night as well. If someone had told me then that we'd be waiting for another one nearly 3 years later I'd never have believed it.

  5. Even if you miss the storms your area should see very heavy rain later tonight into tomorrow morning.

I still believe the areas that will miss out are Wales, W/SW England, Norfolk, Essex, Suffolk,Kent. The reason being is the models continue to suggest central areas will be hit the hardest. When this area of storms hits the S im thinking around the Hampshire, W Sussex, Surrey area before moving directly N.

Not what I wanted to hear after missing out last night.

When a Spanish Plume fails to deliver its time to start thinking of being stuck in the no storms club for a while yet.

  6. Chances for yours truly of escaping the no-storms club today don't look good, what with all the action looking likely to be further east (now where have I heard that before?) and having missed out completely yesterday. We had a few spots of very light rain yesterday and that ladies and germs was it.
