  1. And Merthyr... 1cm of patchy melting slushy snow outside.

Sucks doesnt it? Especially when you get the media ramming the fact that such and such a place has been buried under a bloody foot of snow etc...

To be honest I reckon the breakdown (when it comes) will deliver more in the way of snow (albeit short-lived) than this "cold spell" has.

  2. Well...that's it...I've officially had it with this "cold spell" that has miserably failed to deliver yet again...what have we had? A few flakes of snow followed by sleety garbage which will inevitably at some point tediously freeze into deadly ice.

Roll on the breakdown I say...I should think that would deliver more snow than this joke of a cold spell has!

    *RANT OVER*

  3. I for one am hoping that none of this precipitation falls as rain for anyone...for the simple reason that it would result in sheer chaos and possible carnage once it re-froze before tomorrow morning. Frankly I am getting pretty much sick to the back teeth with rain followed by sub zero temps and sheet ice having already experienced the results more than once since before Christmas.

As for the Met O's latest warnings...yes I'll credit them issuing them for icy roads...good call...BUT!

Issuing warnings for 1-3cms of snow???? Utter nonsense!

  4. Just had a look outside and surprise surprise...sleety rubbish...again!!!!

This "cold spell" has frankly up to now been utter garbage for snow, at least for me, maybe some of you other guys have been luckier.

Am getting seriously fed up of rain followed by freezing temperatures which make surfaces like deadly ice rinks!

    Some snow pur-lease!!!!!!

  5. Again a weather warning is to protect the public. Not to guarantee people snow.

No one is arguing that with you,yes the warnings are meant to protect the public but when the public hear warnings of snow depths of 10-15cm widely...disruption to transport and power supplies etc...and it doesnt happen, they tend to start adopting an attitute of "yeah yeah... heard it all before and nothing happened" to such warnings....bit like cry wolf I suppose.

  6. Here's the Met Office warning for my town tonight and tomorrow:

So I can expect 10-15cm of snow tonight and tomorrow? Where exactly is that going to come from? It's clearly nonsense yet they still have it up, if I hadn't seen the models I'd be preparing to shovel myself out of my house by the morning

, what if I depended on their warnings for my plans? Not good enough is it?

No way in a million years anyone living on lower ground in Wales is going to get anywhere near 10cm...very bad call from the Met Office. Back covering exercise from them without a shadow of a doubt. Trouble is...come the day when a major widespread snow event does come off (stop sniggering at the back there!) people will get caught out because they'll hear the warnings and ignore them because they've heard it all before and seen nothing to justify said warnings.

  7. after yesterdays excitment looks like a possibilty next week,

    latest met office

UK Outlook for Monday 13 Jul 2009 to Wednesday 22 Jul 2009:

From Monday to Friday, the weather is expected to be dominated by an area of low pressure drifting slowly eastwards across northern Britain. This will bring an unsettled mix of sunshine and showers across much of the United Kingdom, albeit with a fairly gentle wind for much of the time. Although hit-and-miss, the showers will generally be on the heavy side, especially inland during the day, when localised thundery downpours are likely. Feeling pleasantly warm when the sun's out, with temperatures around average for the time of year. Looking ahead to the weekend and the start of the following week, the bright but showery theme is set to continue, with a significant settling down of the weather thought to be unlikely at this stage.

my days off work next week wednesday & thursday so please thor send us some bolts

Woohoo another let down to look forward to...cant wait!:clap:

  8. ok that clarifies it Im in here...with my seven bangs and 2 flashes...

havent been arrested yet though

I hereby solemnly swear that I (Carl43Wrexham) have not witnessed a single storm so far this year in 2009.

And that if a storm decides to show up and surprise me I will be more then happy to resign my membership and notify the NSC immediately.

  9. County Wrexham, a thunderstorm wilderness. Mind we get revenge when winter comes............

Ohhhh...revenge will come....I forsee a winter of frequent NW'lys and the western side of the UK being pummelled repeatedly by snow showers...while those over in the east who've had storm after storm...seeing not so much as a flake...hoooooo haa haaaarrrr   :D

  10. still the usual summer pattern of endless cloud and no rain here again today. Subscription expired yesterday and I am not even sure I can be bothered renewing this time round. Used it mainly for access to the radar and tracking storms but hey, its money wasted if we never get any!

Even some drizzle would be welcome right now, its that bad. I just can't believe how storm starved this area is, I think our last proper "storm" as opposed to a feeble rumble of thunder, was back in 2002...

Cant believe you missed out then on the storms of July 29th (?) last year....we had 4 of them in the space of a few hours, was a damn good night that watching them drifting up from the North West Midlands...since then besides a woefully weak storm in April...absolutely nowt other than a couple of rumbles.

  11. Good luck for tomorrow jane, hopefully your patience will be rewarded. There's been more rain here today than the previous 6 weeks :)

Ahem! Out you go sir...ex-members no longer allowed...come back on January 1st 2010 :)

In other words...sod off and let the storm starved suffer in peace :p

Well done on breaking the duck today :)

  12. I didn`t expect any thunderyshowers let alone thunderstorms here today just as the wind comes in from the west and it`s cool,it`s gone as expected, some nice TCU with 3 or so CB`s but nothing too impressive,it went black to the north aswell,a moderate shower only this afternoon.

So the east of england get all the storms again.

It has to be said that some areas are getting a good deal more than their fair share of storms of late. Just makes it all the more galling for those of us who miss out.......and miss out....and miss out :):)
