Am getting really cheesed off now, nothing at all last week, and now seemingly everywhere except our little part of the world is getting a storm. What do we have...wall to wall grey sky, not even rain! Arrrrrrrrgh...
Sounds as bad as round here.
-
The yellow advisories have been removed for western areas now so some places have gone green i.e. most of Wales & the West Midlands.
Surprise Surprise.........zzzzzzzzzz another poxy naffing day of bullplop
Congrats to all you lucky peeps...jammy sods!
-
Which county is that in the West Midlands on the warnings map thats still green?
-
That's probably because, even though I'm only 15 miles down the road from you, I've already had two quite decent storms in the past week - one of which was overnight was overnight so double trouble. I still think there's a possibility for today, but I like your method of thinking; always think negative and you'll never be disappointed.
Negative? nahhhh....realistic
-
I'll be in Nottingham the weekend...I bet Bridgnorth has some whoppers of storms while I'm away
Oh and just incase people get there knickers in a twist, My comment on moving SE ish - is not Midlands vs SE argument.
Sun is comming out here...
Stand ready you guys in the South East...there's a mass exodus of storm starved loonies from North East Wales, Shropshire, Nottinghamshire and anywhere else I may have missed heading your way.
-
Give it time Carl, it's still only just turned 2.30pm so there's plenty of time yet.
In any case, that thunder I heard again about 30 minutes ago was a solo act; the cell decayed as it moved over just giving a dumping of rain. Looked quite menacing with scud running across the base of the cloud though.
I admire your optimism Paul...but the last few days have completely crushed what optimism I did have.

One pathetic light measly little shower.....all the convection (which admittedly looks very impressive) is from my perspective in the wrong direction to me....the sky from where the weather is coming from carries as much threat and menace as a mincing morris dancer!
Hi ho.....back to sleep I go zzzzzzzzz
-
The storm shield has finally been broken this afternoon 2 storms but not much rain unfortunately
another 2 storms just missed by a few mile, so i was close to having 4 storms this afternoon
Adios....
I wonder how many members of the NSC will be still members after tomorrow...besides me of course.

Another dead day for misrable shropshire storm enthusiasts.
Plenty of rain here, but thats about it.
Sigh..
I really am beginning to believe that this part of North East Wales along with Shropshire is completely jinxed when it comes to storms.
Just not happening (at all) this year.
It's becoming seriously annoying now.
-
Heavy rain and thunder now
Well thats you out of the NSC then...my congrats and my envy!
-
ive just seen a flash of lightning to my west unfortunately the storm is just missing here.
You'll be out of the NSC before the end of today...if not today then tomorrow for sure. I'll be keeping your place for 2010 reserved for you.
Way things are going I'll be the last sodding member of the club whistling to myself as we go into 2010

zzzzzz
Someone wake me up when today is over.
I cannot imagine there are more boring places in the UK for weather than here....as bland and uninspiring as a glass of tepid water

Just found out from me brother that there's a storm moving in from the West here. Looks quite nasty and I've just heard some thunder meself. One to keep an eye on.
Edit: Actually looking at the radar it's going North. Still, we're getting quite a few rumbles out it, and they sound pretty nasty. Shaun L, keep an eye on this. Hearing lots of thunder now.
You lucky pup...enjoy.
-
quite a few clouds about but nothing looking like it will produce convection at the moment
Maybe Im completely wrong about what will happen but having had a good look around outside it just doesnt "look" right at the moment...there's not even the remotest indication that anything could happen.
-
Low cloud is clearing away, revealing some impressive anvil-formation out towards the east...
I feel pretty secure in my belief that my membership in the NSC will still be active after today...yes there are some pretty sizable radar echoes to the south west of me but their predecessors died a death before reaching me....and I reckon that will continue.
Not had so much as a drop of rain yet.
In fact...I'm reasonably confident...call it a hunch...that I will see a completely dry day....Insane?...maybe...like I said..just a hunch.
-
Lots of showers breaking out to my SW and heading towards my area
I could be bidding you farewell from the no storms club today or tomorrow
-
Definately depressing N.Wales always favours quite well,
Que?

I have to say that the hot spell in general was a disappointment in more ways than one for me.
* The lack of thunderstorms
* Almost intolerable humidity
* No real dry days..it rained nearly every day of the spell at one time or another, and when it was dry it was often cloudy.
A proper hot spell in my book is several days of hot unbroken sunshine with the humidity gradually increasing towards the end of the hot spell, which is finally broken with a bang from a proper Spanish Plume delivering big thunderstorms from late evening well into the night over sizable parts of the country.
Very disappointing

Strange I think we must be stuck between the front to the west over wales and the rain in the midlands, just a dark sky, and no rain...
Last night was a close call a storm that got to Wrexham went up out over Wales less that 20 miles from here... gutted!
If its any consonlation...you didnt really miss anything...two flashes.two rumbles and that was it!
-
Heavy large shower about to get here. Is that cold front still over wales?
Yes...that front is still over Wales...in all honesty I challenge anyone to spot the difference between where it is now and where it was 12 hours ago
-
WOW! Massive flash a minute of so ago. Was just drying my hair by the window and the flash blinded me. Nearly jumped out my skin!! lol. Good rumble of thunder just after too. OOOOHHH and again!!! Massive flash YESSSSS!
Definate thunder.
-
Think I have to retract my report of thunder...I have been outside and seen nothing untoward...I suspect what I heard was probably a HGV or something going past me on the A483....I'll keep watch for a bit longer though.
-
Happy days. It can't be that far from you Carl can it? The radar 15 mins ago had it only a few miles away from Wrexham.
Spots of light rain but there's that unmistakable sense of "somethings about to happen" in the air
-
Can confirm thunder to the SE of my position...it's on its way to you Paul.

Another day...another thumpingly epic failure.
Any chance tomorrow.........nah! No way...I live in the storm free capital of the UK.
