  1. Ooh look everyone..more wet and windy rubbish. Haven't we had more than enough of that tripe already?
  2. Jam tomorrow charts ongoing in the MAD thread. Meanwhile in the real world...the clock is ticking, the days are slowly but surely getting longer... Time is beginning to run out.
  3. The wonderful novelty of a day where there is no rain.
  4. Whisper it quietly but for me the fat lady may not even be clearing her throat yet but she's definitely entered the building. What have most of us had since the first half of December? Too much rain, an epic fail of probably the most hyped NW'ly ever, and now here we are near the fag end of January with the tell tale signs of a failing winter all too evident in the MAD thread with the Jam Tomorrow charts being posted.. Its not over yet but the signs sure as hell don't look good.
  5. Really could do with a dry spell of weather now. Ground getting pretty saturated.
  6. All things considered..that "cold spell" sucked the sweat from a dead man's balls.
  7. Horribly cold and wet. One of my least favourite winter weather types. Thankfully rain looks set to clear in an hour or so.
  8. They don't make Snow to rain events like they used to. Years gone by we would have a dumping of snow (8-10 inches) the snow would get lighter and lighter then become drizzle..Fog would descend and the slow drip drip would begin. An hour or so later the roaring sound of the snow sliding off the roof in a huge lump, making a huge mound of snow where it had landed. Saw this happen many times when I was younger.
  9. Snow has turned to rain across Wales and now reports of rain in Staffordshire and parts of the Midlands. If you still have falling snow then enjoy it while it lasts, sadly you don't have long. Mild crap is coming.
  10. Snow (proper) now. Heavier precipitation making the difference.
  11. Cold spell? One frost...no snow...too much wind and enough rain to make the ground soggy and waterlogged again. If thats cold zonality then shove it where the sun dont shine.
  12. Pffft...a load of rubbish. No snow..one frost..too much wind and enough rain to make the ground waterlogged again. 0/10 - Good riddance to bad rubbish.
  13. 47cm March 22nd 2013 Pretty damning indictment of recent winters that my deepest snow record came about after the Spring Equinox.
  14. NIMBY speak here but this "cold spell" has been a pile of sh*te
  15. The hell are you waiting for man? Get that snowman built. Then perhaps a spot of tobogganing before lunch.
  16. Wasn't even a North Westerly was it? More of a Westerly which gave us mostly rain and sleet. Yeah a little bit of snow last night but whoopdy do. Big deal. I had a hunch this spell was going to fail to live up to all the hype. I fear we had the best of what winter has to offer in December.
  17. Amen to that, Would bring us into the game snow wise. Getting naff all from these showers. NW'lys we'd be getting hammered. Sadly these are coming in on a W'ly so its a big
  18. This upcoming "cold spell" doesn't really look like cutting it, away from elevation. When someone says cold spell to me I think of snow (for the majority - not just the lucky few who live up a mountain). I think of frost, I think of ice days with dazzling sunshine from gin clear blue skies. I do not think of rain and wind, and at best slushy showers which might give a temporary covering in the heaviest bursts as a cold spell. i fear disappointment will be the overriding feeling of the vast majority of people when this "spell" is over.
  19. My driveway has only just (finally) dried up. Ground is still wet and waterlogged in places. Dont fancy a NW'ly cold rainfest.
  20. Ding dong the gloom has gone The rotten gloom The poxy gloom Ding dong the rotten gloom has gone Blue skies and dazzling sunshine has returned..lifting the spirits no end. As for the upcoming period...not over enamoured at the thought of cold rain coming from a modified NW'ly.
  21. US winter = Bone numbingly cold. UK winter = mind numbingly boring (unless wind and rain is your thing)
