  1. Almost looks like he's trying to escape out of the picture. Poor Darren!!
  2. Maybe tonight but I'm sure you'll see some snow if/when a (Thames) steamer sets up
  3. Just give me a convective downpour. I'll take that at this point, Anything to beat this tedium Had absolutely nothing but a distant rumble since this spell started. Missed out yesterday as a shower trundled past me and hit Canterbury flooding the cricket ground. The day before Maidstone got hammered! Hopefully today will be the day but not too optimistic tbh. Looks like a mainly north of London affair
  4. Although it's been a poor year, so far in Kent .. didn't get anything yesterday I wouldn't swap living here for anywhere else. Just being able to drive down to the Channel and have an unobstructed view of an MCS leaving the French coast and trundling towards the UK is something I'd miss if I moved away. Have to say I'm really pleased the heat has gone for the time being as without a storm at the end the're seems little enjoyment in sweating profusely day in day out. Happy for those of you that got a good storm out of this spell and for those who didn't there's still time. (My profile pic was from an evening in October!)
  5. Nope.. nothing all day here. A chance that there's some rain on it's way from France.... no thunder to speak of in it though.
  6. Kent seems crap for homegrown storms and totally reliant on French imports. Normally all I have to do is drive to the coast but might have to go west as the Pet Shop Boys advised. That sausage shaped Moderate area in Hampshire looks inviting.
  7. Unlikely I'm afraid....... During the evening hours, a band or cluster of thunderstorms over northern France will begin to drift north across the English Channel, potentially affecting the Channel Islands for a time - it is unclear where these storms will survive the crossing, but the vast majority of model guidance is in agreement that they will decay fairly rapidly after leaving the coast, with lightning activity tending to hug the French coastline to the east. Nonetheless, a few elevated thunderstorms may be possible across S / SE England overnight, and perhaps at the end of the night close to the East Anglia coast. http://www.convectiveweather.co.uk/forecast.php?date=2020-08-12
  8. Beer o' clock I reckon as no storms around here to chase again.
  9. I've just taken a frozen bath towel out of the freezer and wrapped it around me. It lasted 10 mins before it had to go back in!
  10. Don't know if it's elevated. If so it might be worth keeping an eye on. I'm in a bit of a quandary as I really want to crack open a bottle of beer but will want to drive to the coast to see it arrives (if it does)
  11. I was going to drive to the coast for a bit of relief from the heat but apart from getting the Aircon on for 20 minutes it seems pointless.
  12. Although I'm in a good position for Kent clipper imports we miss out on homegrowns more often than not which is a shame. I can't think of the last time I saw a storm develop in situ overhead. We don't really get to see it all the ingredients rise and bubble and the anticipation that goes with it. Our meteorological meals just get delivered pre cooked from elsewhere. Shame really
  13. Strike New Romney and east of Canterbury? According to Lightning Maps
  14. The heat can go and do one if there's no storm as a pay off. Melting here, got a headache... And grumpy!!
  15. Eastern Europe lighting up like a Christmas Tree Real Time Lightning Map :: LightningMaps.org WWW.LIGHTNINGMAPS.ORG See lightning strikes in real time across the planet. Free access to maps of former thunderstorms. By Blitzortung.org and contributors.
  16. Strike (apparently) overhead according to Lightning Maps.... heard nothing!
  17. Estofex have nothing anywhere in Europe today. Quite unusual.
  18. In Kent I'm probably to far east this afternoon and to south tonight for any storms. Good luck to everyone.
