  1. Happy for all that got a decent amount of snow last night. Especially those that weren't expecting much. It was looking quite promising here when I turned in at 11 pm but woke to cold rain and patchy slush. I've no idea what the accumulation got to before it turned to rain. Onwards and upwards. I've been on the other side before and got a nice dollop of snow that wasn't expected so I'm quite philosophical about it. A Kent streamer would though, I have to admit.
  2. The radar shows it's invigorating in south Kent. Snowing quite heavily in Ashford
  3. Looks like freezing rain just approaching the coast from the south according to the radar... loads of green !
  4. I listened to the Radio 4 weather forecast just before 8 o'clock and the last thing Helen Willetts said was we are keeping an eye on developments South East
  5. That area of snow has been sat there off the coast for over an hour and doesn't want to come ashore.
  6. Yep... there's a fairly intense area of snow off the Kent/E Sussex coast that's been stationary for nearly an hour.
  7. Just buy a month of radar on this site for £3.49. Uninstall the apps and regain your sanity.
  8. Seem to have a 10 mile streamer type thing going on through here at the moment. Wasn't really expecting that.
  9. I'm starting to think the pink on the Net Weather radar indicates cloud cover and not snow.
  10. Yep... Need a NE or NNE . The way it's looking is a ENE and E will be quite predominant so we'll need embedded troughs.
  11. Set up looks great generally. I hope the wind veers around a bit though. Would be nice to see the wind forecast to veer NE/NNE for a little while from my point of view.
  12. The wind direction definitely makes a big difference in streamers and accumulations. I remember a while back getting 5 cm in Ashford but driving up the M20 to Maidstone and seeing three times this amount. If we don't get embedded troughs there could be large accumulation differences. Nothing worse than seeing a train of Cumulonimbus in the near distance dumping copious amounts of snow up the road.
  13. I was there earlier this year and the weather is simply mental.... Heavy snow showers for a day followed by 80mph winds and driving rain all day followed the next day by the heaviest fall of snow for 80 years. Love their weather.
  14. Yeah that's weird. I was just leaving Iceland last February when they had their biggest fall of snow for 80 years of 20 inches. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/02/28/iceland-turns-winter-wonderland-record-snowfall/ I was surprised the record wasn't bigger tbh.
  15. Ashford seems to be in no mans land between the streamers to the east around Folkestone and to west over E. Sussex and West Kent
  16. Although I love snow I'm looking forward to popping down to Camber in the summer to see some storms coming up from France. A lot more frequent than snow but just as interesting/exciting to see
