it seems there are rumblings of the meto and bbc underestimating the snow potential for tomorrow. will be interesting to see if this comes to fruition. im hoping that the approaching upper front from the se doesnt push this trough off course from us. i know its greedy but 2 lots are better than one

yes, that's very true. It'll get here i think - even a fair few hours of light snow to add to what we've got would be good. I haven't seen any local forecasts for tomorrow - what's the score with that? i thought that was meant to be a bit further north (along the M4 north)?
i believe the part about it being further north is probably relating to mondays possibilities. it seems that it is definately more overnight and into tomorrow that the snow will reach us as the upper fronts arent supposed to reach the uk until this evening and tonight. im thinking the current snow is just a bonus

in response to you badboy, im thinking it probably wont fizzle too much. my thinking is(rightly or wrongly) that the upper level frontal activitymight give it the energy it needs to keep going. as some have noted it is infact spreading and becoming more persistant in some areas so its still hopeful that soemthing will occurr

i think they should share the snow more. frankly they are being greedy down there. i dont dare look at their thread as it may become abit morbid for us middle folk with nowt but cloud lol

Indeed it is making painfully slow prgress, but on the plus side that means that when/if it gets here, its here to stay for quite some time. No visable signs of tomorrows event taking shape yet, so will have to sit tight for that one for now i guess

thats true.in fawley it started as rain and icy pellets and then readily turned to heavy snow very quickly. heres hoping

aye and i see the snow in east anglia and the se is now taking a more easterly tack and looks to be developing. maybe thats wishful thinking but im only following a web radar. the visable sattelite images are still giving me hope for tonight and tomorrow though

something tokeep an eye on there. not being fully clued up in the model side of things, i have no idea what the chancesof wenesday being rain/slee/snow are. thats a fair way of yet when we still have today and tomorrow to see yet! i really dont remember any time in my life when there have been this many successive snow threats for th south coast

i have to say....im taking my eye off this for a bit!! we will get some snow later today!! flurries which will lay on the snow already here!! but i think tommorow has been downgraded on bbc..... monday the warning has been completley removed from the south!! tues we might have some but!!wedsnesday looks good as the mild air hits the cold air then another winter wonderland could be produced!! i think there will be some heavy bursts tommorow and it is changing so met office could upgrade us .......but im sitting on the fence on this one!!
best budge up then as i dont think thereis room for everyone on this fence. seems to be the perch of choicefor many lol including me

Some of us are desperate lol. this is the first decent snow in what seems an eternity. disappointed to see the change in warnings for us though
it seems at this stage we are still waiting for the wind to switch from ne to e. still feeling very very cold in the wind though

Looking at the latest MetO radar and Sat pics (dont have NW extra lol), it is still looking very good for you guys in Devon and Somerset. Get your cameras ready for the rest of us

Very interesting stuff. Fascinating to see that they can be viewed from over 100km away. My camera is nowhere near up to scratch, but ill certainly keep my eyes open at the coast. Be great to see something like that

looking at my eumetcast system the storms other Brittany Normandy area ar slow moving is any one standing bye on the west coast of Isle of Wight or high ground in Dorset to try for a photo of sprites above the storms
I never knew that sprites could be visable from the ground like that. Those storms are a fair old way away. Is it even likely that sprites could be seen at such a distance? I dont know much about them or what causes them, so forgive my ignorance :lol:

After a horrible hot day at work, while gas cutting lol, I am looking to the south in France and I have to say im a little more optomistic. They are just bursting into life in the space of even an hour and really looking good. Fingers crossed for anyone along ths outh coast!

Can still see the tops of the Channel cells that are looking to land near Poole and they are definate CB's. Through the haze I can also see others further down the line out to sea. Can anyone confirm the increase in activity mentioned near swanage?

Not wanting to get people too excited, but I can now see soild convection to my SW. Proper views of the full clouds are hidden by haze, but it is definately there. Anyone else see it at all? *Crosses fingers slightly*

Hi everyone. Having just watched what I think was a live broadcast from South Today on Bournemouth beach, I noticed what looked like some fairly large convective clouds further to the west. Can anyone out that way confirm these thoughts? Have been keeping my eye on the sat pics for that area around NW France and the Channel, but will have to wait and see about that lot for now

i am still holding out for tonight. the clump in kent seems to be failing us somewhat, HOWEVER keep a keen eye on developments over france. following the meto info, sat images etc, it is building and developing. remember even light rain results in more snow. shame we are having to rely on infra red images now which arent as clear though
