It's in my sig now
It was freezing in Glasgow this morning - minus 5 on the drive in.

Sympathise. been trying my best to avoid writing a report. Why is the kilted thread always quiet when you need it... Someone should make a tumbleweed emoticon.
Agreed; looking forward to a "scorching BBQ day tomorrow, unusually mild with frost lingering throughout, snow flurries later. Heavy rain for long periods with little in the way of precipitation around, apart from widespread prolonged snow to low levels in most areas".
sounds a bit like a meto forecast in the MT if you average it out...
Your wish, is my command...
Lifted from my own site - so feel free to get a site admin to add it

Edit: Just looked at the radar and there may well be a few excited bunnies over on the eastern side of the country :) Although not, perhaps, in east central, sorry guys
Yay...
Ah...
Boo...

And all over a high which is not going to sink!! Fair enough it does look like sitting wobbling about close to our shores, but if we're patient.....
Edit: 12z is holding the high for ages!!
I know - but because it's not going to deliver the prerequisite dumping of the white stuff on Little Fumblebottom, it's all out warfare.
Sigh.

Tis a fight brewing on the MT...
TOORP central

Blonde question - but what would the end result be, if the PV did indeed come down across Scotland ?
-
-
I thought it looked ok  What have I missed? General trend of high pressure slowly moving off to Greenland.
Is it not moving too far NW ?
-
LS - been through the charts this morning from the 0z runs, and I'm struggling to see anything ?
Certainly not anything along the lines of the excitement generated from the 18z... a couple of "nice" fax charts, but the ECM and GFS both look to have downgraded the cold for this week, and certainly into next the GFS brings the atlantic in...
Or am I missing something ?
-
Um...what happened to the 0z ?
It's not looking particularly "anything" in my early morning view...
-
The general picture from countryfile week forecast looked pretty good.
For Englandshire
Anyhoo - bring on the PV Snowmageddon/Baltimageddon:ph34r:
-
12z trickling out - and already it looks like the high to the north is squeezing the atlantic slightly further back - not sure if that means the pressure is building ?
-
ROFL!! :D
Oh Boy.
I'd love to see Gail instill some passion like that into her forecasts

Another forum I use, there's a guy from Virginia who says they had 20inches fall over the course of Friday night/Saturday, and expecting another 10 through Sat night into Sun...
-
Just finished reading a piece in the Sunday Mail, where a Meto spokesman warned parts of Scotland will be -12 on Friday, and that from Tues/Wed there will be frequent snow showers in the east of the country...
Interesting that a meto spokesperson is willing to go out on a limb like that, when everything is still out in FI (effectively)

Morning all... It's nondescript again today.
Can't be - I get a long lie on Nondescriptday.

Yes and for a change my lovely wife is upstairs.......but gives me some time to veiw charts ect. She thinks my obsession with cold and snow is completely weird anyway, but thats another tale.
THis cold seems to be going the same as the last one. Lots of talk early on of no ppn, but as the event draws closer, things develop. As LS and others say, get the cold in and snow will crop up. You are perhaps sick of hearing it, but the 23rd Dec at about 2 or 3 in the morning a completely unforecast snow event took place from the NE. 6" or so fell over a large area. This was our largest fall of the spell, but shows things will happen if the cold is there.
Great charts this morning........have to use that terrible word.........UPGRADE
I thought it was only my wife who thought it was "odd" the amount of time I spend looking at charts through the winter

Morning SP33
Damn Kids, Damn Sunday Mornings
Don't they know they are allowed to have a long lie ! lol That ECM chart is lovely -10 air right across the central belt - if that verifies (and it's kind of agreeing with the GFS), then Friday could very well be a snow day for us in central regions....
I missed the last event in December as I stupidly went to Oz for Xmas, so I'm kind of desperate for another one (how selfish is that, we've gone 3 years since the last semi decent snowy winter, and now here we all are getting ready to move into Toorp mode if we dont get snow again this winter )
-
0z gfs has Friday looking very interesting - Op and control on the ensemblies both going for sub -10 air, only a couple of members in agreement though...
Whatever happens, from this afternoon, the cold air is coming and we should all be under some chilly air on the trudge to work tomorrow...agree with LS though, that there is some possibilty of snow overnight, the only thing that would worry me, is that temps and DP are conducive enough for it to lie ?
Couple of Charts for Friday attached

I'd take that!
Ich Auch
However the webcam from WashingtonDC, is quite frankly, awesome duuuuude.

The 12z looks to be a run for Englandshire getting the snow towards the tail end of the week...
Not so good for us I fear...
-
Ah yes the pills are kicking in
If I recall correctly - the last snowy outbreak in December, was pretty much "missed" until the day before wasn't it (forgive my memory, however I was in Australia at the time )
So, the anti-toorpness is working The fax chart above makes for nice viewing, so will wait in the hope that the 6z brings us at the very least something more snowy
-
Definitely getting colder from the weekend, but doesn't look to be much in the way of ppn of a snow variety...
The 0z is a bit of a mare to be honest - my anti-toorp pills aren't working this morning.
-
Wow.
Simply wow.
I see they're charging admission to get into the Model thread now
Just off to examine the charts again...
