To my untrained eyes, the 06z so far is an upgrade to the 0z. Think the MO need to be looking at Ambers shortly.

It's looking like a week where we run out of superlatives. Bonkers, crazy, mental, insane, nuts, ridiculous, preposterous. Unless the models fall apart very soon we're on for the most extreme snow event for many years. If the charts are right we're talking feet of snow for some lucky person.
I fully expect the Express to come up with some new ones.

yup correct an English thing, there are updates sent to local governments in Scotland though which are pretty detailed forecasts......
We have the Traffic Scotland Twitter, so it's all good.

Hearts are at home on Tuesday night. Game off?
We can but hope.

Great to see LS back.
Stockholm to Cumbernauld - sounds like the title of an Irvine Welsh book

In 10 years from now, we'll all be standing in the post office queue reminiscing about The Winter of 2018.

When you mention the possibility of it being serious next week, are we talking Red warnings ??
Not for Scotland.

I'm going from excitement about the snow to starting to think this could be quite serious if it doesn't get watered down soon. I'm up for it but you've got to spare a thought for less able people getting stuck at home or farmers with livestock to look after.
100% agree.
People I'm talking to are all "AYE RIGHT MATE, WHATEVER, JUST LIKE LAST MONTH AYE?" - and they're completely right. I feel like that dude who tried to warn villagers about a wolf stuck in a dyke.
Or something.

I know there's no snow on the forecast - but those temps coupled to a "brisk" wind means it's going to be a Taps Oan day.

Charts not really backing away from this major cold - temp forecasts for London on Tuesday night look to be around -8c which is going to shock those softie-southerners.
I can see the central belt being absolutely hammered from Tuesday onwards - i just hope Traffic Scotland are already calling in the troops. (figuratively, not literally!)

Might need to put the heating on.

I still recall how bad we got hit from this
A full on 1ft+ in the centre of glasgow....

Yikes.
00z GFS is going to causing a major Toorpage later...looks like it's pushed the colder air further south (into France)

That wouldn't be ideal, would it?

Hmm.
My Winter Ramps have already been packed away for the next 9 months.
I'll just be Victor Meldrew for the coming week.
Bah.
So having checked the latest charts....
M8 on Monday afternoon =
It does look absolutely exceptional, not sure I've seen anything like it in a long time.

3cm.
Deal.
Just enough to make driving a RWD BMW fun, but not enough to make it dangerous,
