  1. Saw BBC Forecast on News24 about 30mins ago - it basically showed the same as the charts already posted - Scottish Borders even got a mention!!! Looked very very heavy and more organised than what the SE have been having Still..... no warnings yet
  2. Hum, 16 Day Detail etc on Netweather still showing 18z GFS?? Last updated 22:39:00
  3. Can anyone around Leith or Edinburgh give a roads update please as we have to travel shortly... From TD106XD to EH6 7RG Ta Soutra doesn't look bad but I suspect there is a lot of black ice about this morning
  4. Sorry that it's ended up on facebook - I hope everyone can still view them... Here is the Snow from the Eastern Scottish Borders today.... http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=137704&id=693876746&ref=mf
  5. Lots of blue sky with white fluffy clouds visible
  6. Had yucky sleet stuff overnight - went to bed at 2:30am as the temperature was still hovering around 3'C Woke up and see a light cover of snow outside... Street light switched off, sky went very dark, street light came back on Something noisy falling out of the sky - rather heavily! Radar says snow, but its more sleety than snow
  7. Just had a heavy sleet shower, 70% of which was wet snow... Should of been all snow - but temp is a tad high Looks like I'll be up all night watching the streetlamp then
  8. Has anyone else done this then: On those times where to keep peace and because I HAVE to go to bed, to make sure I don't miss anything - I sit a video camera in the window pointing at the nearest street lamp so I don't miss any of the action??
  9. OK so with the BBC getting in on the act - I am now in a bit of a ramping mood so here goes (including FI) All I can say is..... "YES PLEASE"
  10. Yup I know what you mean, here I am yet again with BBC News 24 on just in case they mention snow at 12:27am......
  11. BBC Weather Online - http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/4300?area=Galashiels - Going for sleet at the moment for Saturday (that's day and night)
  12. It was mentioned in one of the 10million model threads this week that precip can't be trusted until less than 24 hours before the day, and even then it's a case of watch the radar and the nearest lamp post
  13. Quick question.... Is this just the cold spell discussion for Scotland or is it the cold spell discussion for Scotland and some ramping too?? I'm not being negative but as you can all appreciate I am sure - I would rather that any information about our likely chances of getting snow was not based in fantasy / hope... I will take some "not quite fantasy but not quite fact either" though I've been on the Model Output rollercoaster for a few weeks - and I feel like I need to plant my feet on the ground for a bit..... UKMO says yes, ECM sort of says yes, GFS sometimes says Yes and sometimes says No. All the Synoptics scream yes..... but....
  14. Well the Scottish Eastern Borders didn't even get anything to write home about in February this year, the last proper snow we had here was probably about 2 years ago aswell. It's had me quite frustrated listening to the "southerners" moaning when it started looking good for Scotland but less good for the south, as I was thinking you have already had snow this year - maybe not this winter but its still more than we have had! Fingers X'd and despite saying I won't look at the charts until nearer the time....... I find that I just can't help myself
  15. According to BBC Breakfast and an interview at the Met Office, The Met Office are shortly going to be telling their computer to contact patients who will be adversely affected by the upcoming cold spell. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8411217.stm Looks like it's on then!
  16. Countryfile forecast said colder from wednesday with a biting easterly wind, Snow coming in Thursday and Friday, but how much was uncertain..... Ended with "Just to be clear snow is in the forecast for the second half of the week"
  17. Could someone in the know possibly verify I have the times correct please? And also - does anyone know what time the GEM comes out?? Are there any models I have missed?? Is it worthwhile covering the NMM model that Netweather uses for the 48hr "in detail" for members??
  18. If like me you find the release times of models confusing, and remembering where you can view each model... I knocked up this page: http://www.bordersweather.co.uk/wxmodels.php so you can quickly see which models should be available and what times the models not yet available should be online. Hope this helps....
  19. I thought it was too good to be true! Settled using official Weather station data from main International Airports of each city. 1mm of snowfall must be recorded as falling between 00:00 and 23:59 on Dec 25th 2009. PP decision is final in settlement of this market.
  20. As you can see by the attached image, our frost is just now starting to melt.... To be fair though - It has been at 3 or below here for almost 40 hours! try again, clicked the attach button this time
  21. Only just managed to climb above freezing half an hour ago - at 0.7 currently.. Eastern Scottish Borders....
  22. Still sitting at -0.1 here in Eastern Scottish Borders (Greenlaw) Sorry just rose to 0 now! Hoping it doesn't go too high before the front arrives
