  1. Why am I not surprised that he who was previously known as Victor Meldrew would say such a thing ?! Just out of interest why do you keep changing your username Neil ?
  2. I never quite understand questions like this when the information is so freely available, and with recent updates .http://www.raintoday.co.uk/
  3. Appreciate that thanks AJ Yes they are according to their recent information
  4. Well that might be the decent thing to do if they are so unaware of the warnings.
  5. Thanks for that report Iceni and I'm quite sursprised by what you say, given the very warm July our region has had. Could it not be as a result of low rainfall amounts much of the region has had in the last 2 months ?
  6. Can you give some examples of this please TonyH because I think these are fairly few and far between. ? Off to do some research on that now, but I doubt there have been more than 4 or 5 in the last 30 years, so hardly regular. It's a genuine question and if you can point me in the right direction for the research I would appreciate it.
  7. Captain, unless posts here are being deleted without notification then it looks as though they are perfectly civil ?
  8. Good grief really ? The official meteorological definition of the start of Autumn is still 3 weeks away ( September 1st ) and the same definition of the start of winter is December 1st....over 3 months away. Hardly just round the corner is it ?
  9. As much as I believe many of us here on nw are particularly interested in severe weather, I for one would be happy to see the UK escape the worst of it, coming as it does at the weekend in the peak holiday season. A lot of families will be out and about, many of them on their annual holidays and a fair percentage of them will be down in the West Country. I had the misfortune to be on a camping holiday in that part of the country with my very young family when the Fastnet storm hit in August 1979. It was horrendous and completely wrecked what was our only holiday in years. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
  10. I think this about sums up my thoughts Mapantz. Troublesome given that it's a weekend in the peak holiday season, which is why I think the Met Office warnings to be aware are pretty much spot on so far.
  11. No disrespect intended to anyone but I'm pretty confident that the full time paid professionals at the Met Office with all data at their fingertips are in a far better position to call this, as opposed to a few of us amateurs on an internet website ?
  12. Fair comment CR, but the possible Atlantic Low Pressure system possibly heading our way this weekend is not even a remnant of 'Bertha'. If it happens at all it will be an entirely different weather system spawned out in the Atlantic due to other factors. The medias obsession with Bertha is a red herring.
  13. No we don't Thunderbuddy, that is simply not true. I think you need to take a more balanced view of the weather systems which affect the UK and stop reading and believing much of the media hype.
  14. I have only checked July and August so far but I make it 27 of the last 28 days since July 10th somewhere in our region. The only one that failed to reach 25c was August 3rd with a mere 24.5c.
  15. Nothing exciting on the horizon Lauren ? Look to our west and you might see something quite exciting possibly heading our way this weekend ? I say possibly because nothing is certain this far out, but unless I'm mistaken there is certainly the potential for a spell of very unsettled weather towards the end of the weekend.
  16. Well that was a really useful and informative post. 24c here in north west London
  17. Anyways I am good thanks, hope the same goes for you and yours.Weather wise there's nothing much to report from here this afternoon.
  18. No, but then I very rarely visit these days. It has become incredibly boring though.
  19. I am down in Hastings now, I can confirm we are indeed getting a pasting. As good as the earlier one we had Friday evening. What a spell this is
  20. Sandown, Isle of Wight webcam: http://driftwoodbeachbar.com/webcam/ It's insane there now
