  1. Ahhhhh had enough of trying to keep my little path clean only want a little one for the kids to walk on as its on a slope.... Got stuck on there last time cos I didn't clean it can't believe its sticking again... Think I will look for someone to clean it for me any offers. Any ideas on how long the snow is in for?

enjoy it while it lasts Pamela.
  2. Thanks - HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!

FRONT HAS PRETTY MUCH STALLED - WE HAVE A BLIZZARD WITH FLAKES THE SIZE OF MONSTERS - I REALLY DON@T EXPECT TO SEE ANYONE NOW UNTIL THE SPRING! - IF ANYONE CAN HELICOPTER ME OUT OF HERE - I MIGHT WELL APPRECIATE IT LOL (But it's not funny)

i will resuce you andy still very heavy here starting to stick but very wet surfaces from thaw earlier.
  3. I can see it pivoting somewhere over west Wales, sending bands of snow over most of south Wales for the rest of the night, eventually fizzling out through tomorrow. Just my two cents.

The Valleys really have been the place to be in this cold spell. Three major snow events in five days isn't to be sniffed at!

i can smell the snow! Or is that France LOL ;)

  4. you'll probably all think I'm mad - but I'm currently in touch with the welsh assembly about building the 1st PROPER - Ski resort in Wales - hopefully based in the Beacons National Park - will hopefully involve a lovely ski lodge with bar and rooms and live entertainment etc - and some ski lifts - chair and otherwise tow ropes/t bars etc - I'm hopeful That I can get the backing of the 1st minister to create lots of lovely jobs and attract some new visitors to Wales - what d'ya all think - winters like this are gonna be the norm and worse for the next 30 years - so I think this could be the time to get Wales involved properly in the sking industry - Watch This Space! - Anyone want to buy a brand new snowmobile - Let Me Know Tel:- *

i will give a hand with helicopters in case ski lifts break down LOL :)

  5. Well, I got up at 0230hrs and had a look out of the window and there was nothing so went back to bed...in a 'snowless huff'.

Something made me at stir at 0430 (probably the inner excitement in me waiting to throw itself out and start making snow angels)

I looked out the window and it's now blanketed us here in West Pontnewydd.

    It's blowing, it's snowing...and it aint going.....

    Current temps 0.2C

    Dew Point now -2.2C

    Pressure 999.9

    Humidity 83%

I'm expecting minimum 20 cm's of snow to fall here in Cwmbran today. I want 30 cm's but that's just being plain 'ole greedy....ah what the heck...now I want 40cm's of deep snow....

I promised my youngest daughter I would take her and the dogs out this morning for a run around....looking at the way it is now, I've had second thoughts. I think I might just cook us a nice greasy fry up and sit gazing out into the garden all day and twitching the curtains.

It's going to be one of those days when every weather forecast on BBC News 24 gets watched and I go 'shhhh' to anyone who dares speak when it's on.

This is the first time I've posted on here for a long long time and if you wonder why it's because I've been keeping a low profile. Take a look here http://www.hackergate.co.uk and you'll know why I've not wanted to attract any attention.

Anyway, it's nice to be back. Great to see Andy Music's excitement 'flourishing' around the regional threads ...... anyone know if Cwmbran Eira and Jay from Cardiff still about ?

Have a great day everyone and taker my advice, don't start snowball fights, they will always end up in tears....and bloodshot eyes.

    Steve ( also on twitter - @StevenNott )

andymusic and jayfromcardiff still around Steven certainly they been posting here overnight - check out andys photos!!
  6. Pretty sure my little boy wont be going to school today - if this keeps up we wont be able to get the car out by 9am! Am up with my 2year old who wont go back to sleep lol. Its lovely to watch the snow. As regards travel, I was supposed to be on a course for work in Cardiff today, but not even sure our "Swedish Tank" (aka what my hubby's boss calls our Volvo) is up to negotiating Caerphilly Mountain in this!

    few fab photo. :)
  7. this won't really get going until i see the swirling of drifting snow on the ground. once that starts, it's on. at the moment, it's looking like work though. nightmare.

    try telling bosses that though.

i totally agree but they would be crazy to react if you called in and said I am not taking the risk! anyway back on topic starting to stick here, winds seems to have died down a little bit though.
  8. The "worry" for people who leave for work early (about now) is that they'll try. If the forecast is even 50% correct they may get home by Sunday

yep simple solution - do not go. RED warnings DO NOT TRAVEL UNLESS NECESSARY - work unless your key service takes a back row seat in my opinion. We do medivacs by helicopter for government, oil rigs and travel companies, but we took decision to grounds aircraft and only skeleton staff working overnight today who in fact slept in the office. Think safety is paramount if anyone is even thinking of driving in the next few hours then they are putting themselves, the public and emergency service at risk. Just my opinion.
