  1. I've actually got 2 snowboards. One in my garden, which is rather sheltered and the other one in the field just to the north of the house; this one is exposed to the wind and low sunshine. At 1500hr, there was 3.5cm of snow on this board.
  2. Have you really got 7cm of snow in Freuchie????
  3. Snow and snow pellets on and off since before 0800h; just occasional light snow flurries now. Heaviest snow with big flakes was at 1015hr. The snowline is around 80m asl locally. Above this level the snow depth increases rapidly; it is 3'' deep at 200m, 1km north of here. Meanwhile, there is nno snow lying less than 2 miles away in places like Leven, Methil and Buckhaven. At my station at 1500hr, 100% cover, 4cm deep on snowboard, which is placed on grass close to my rain gauge.
  4. Hello At 1500hr, 100% cover, with 4cm of snow on snowboard.
  5. It's Scotland and Northern Ireland. And its, ENgland and Wales.
  6. I got the following quote from the Meteogroup UK website. http://www.meteogroup.co.uk/uk/home/weather/weather_news/news/archive/2009/december/ch/9b05bd6779/article/sledging_your_bets.html ''Another potentially significant area of snow may well affect Scotland during Saturday and this could well push southwards across much of the UK during Saturday night, perhaps even including the quite unusual occurrence of thunder and lightning during the heaviest of the snowfall.''
  7. There is one, maybe two troughs meant to push SW in the next 24 hours. I think one should pass through Fife before dawn. I expect a mixture of sleet, small hail, snow pellets, snow and large hail. There could be snow flurries Thurs night into Friday. There ought to be at least a 1-2cm covering by Friday morning?
  8. I agree with that. I hope the low moves south and develops a cyclonic easterly by Mon/Tue (GFS 18z yesterday showed some great charts) and that will bring heavy snow showers to the east of Scotland.
  9. I think there could be some less cold air coming in behind the front for a short while, afterall there is some warm air mixed in with this system.
  10. Hello The low might head further south and get caught up in the southerly jet stream and be shoved east into the Med with very cold easterly winds returning to the UK.?
  11. Well, I've been a member on 'theweatheroutlook' for about a year. Looking foward to THursday/Friday, probably my best chance of a covering of snow (being well inland and quite high up). I just wish the wind direction was more easterly and stronger too....eastern England will get the worst again. Once the wind veers to the north/north-west at the weekend, I don't expect much snow. I hope the cold can hand on for the foreseeble future and make winter 09-10 a modern classic. Jan 1984 is my favourite so far. I was only 9, but the snow must have been about 45cms deep on Sunday morning (date?).
  12. Hello everyone I'm a new member, just signed up a minute ago. Been reading in the sidelines for months now.
