Drove past it this morning. Must have come down the slip too fast. Road really wasn't that bad.

Civic Centre. Still not a murmer on the news about the amount of snow. I really am a novice when it comes to weather, but it's been fun seeing the senarios change so much over the last week or so. I s this set up just unusual for Dec or would it be unusual anyway in Jan or Feb?

In work in Merthyr at the moment. Chaos on the roads in town. Gritters and ploughs haven't been out on a lot of roads. Looks like a front coming in from south of Devon and Cornwall. Any likelihood that this will hit us later in the day?

It snowed in the East. Good coverage on the ground. Maybe and inch or less. Clear skies now. It will be very interesting getting to work in Merthyr this morning. To be honest it will be very interesting getting out of the village.

Slap bang between Abergavenny and Hereford. Nothing but clear skies. Looks like its dumping it over the Black Mountains and nothings reaching us. If the wind could swing SW then we could be in for a mother load.

Can't see it from the radar. Fingers crossed. If the winds turn more SW does it increase the likelihood of it reaching Aber/Hereford or will if fall over the black mountains and give us nada.

I'm more than jealous. Nothing predicted for Abergavenny or Hereford area. My luck just isn't in this Dec If anyone has some good news for me i'd like to hear it

Fingers crossed it hits Merthyr where i work. If i can't get it here then hopefully it will stop me getting to work.

No luck for me. It's been showing signs through the day but nothing is reaching that far East. Pressure dipping but now staying put. Hovering around freezing. Everything, but everything has gone south or north of us. Clear sky's.

Working in Merthyr Tydfil. We've just had a snow/hail shower. Lasted 10mins. Some settled on north facing slopes and roofs. Clear again now and cold. Some more clouds on horizon.

Hi to all, This is my very first post. I'm fairly obsessed by the weather like most people on here although i have no background or understanding of 'runs' 'parallel runs' '12z' and many more mystical terms. I rely more on my bog standard weather station for the weather in the coming hour or so and natural signs for prediction further in the future. I have been reading the boards for the last week and was wondering what if anything is so special about the current conditions? I can't remember in my life time a significant snowfall in Dec. I'm 33. If we do have one in '09 1) Is is that much out of the ordinary 2) Does it tell us much about the coming winter 3) Is there the slightest hint that we may be in for a '47 '63 event? Slightly of topic. Is there a forum or discussion for natural signs of predicting the weather and old sayings? ie March comes in like a Lion goes out like a Lamb / Owls hunting in daylight hours mean cold.harsh weather in future
