  3. Heavy wet snow here in Merthyr. Turned from rain to wettish snow quite quickly
  4. Really interesting watching my Weather Station data from work Temp 6.6c Dew 1.9c Sleet/snow/hail mix in Merthyr
  5. Sleet showers here in Merthyr. Bright again now. Back home in AberG temp 7.4c dew point 2.5c Dew point dropped 1.0c in 1 hour temp only 0.4c
  6. I find that there is absolutely positively no point in looking at the model threads. Those guys wouldn't even agree on the colour of the sky. I'm sticking to this thread. More convivial and accommodating
  7. I love reading it just affirm that i am sane, compare to a whole load of nut jobs. Always worth a chuckle.
  8. Ok.. own up. Who did it?? All this talk about conspiracies..... http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread795359/pg1
  9. At last something tantalizing on the horizon. Just in time to put my new/first weather station into good use. I missed the high winds as i couldn't get the wind sensor up in time.
  10. Min 5.6c @ 8:33 Max 10.6c @ 21:44 Rain 0.0mm Current Temp:10.6c Pressure: 1021.3 mbar falling slowly
  11. Cheers. Like you say, very deceptive. Seemed to be lashing down just the same as the previous day. Wind sensor goes up tomorrow
  12. Does anyone know what the rain totals were for my area yesterday? Only 4.6mm on my sensor for yesterday and 1.5mm for today. I had about 37mm on Tuesday. Hope it's not gone faulty already.
  13. Finding a shaded spot is fine. I've temporarily sited the rain gauge on a pole in the garden awaiting a more suitable and visually pleasing location for my wife. I'm not sure i will be able to get the wind sensor up high enough. High pitched garage roof is the safest bet for me although its a tad protected by the house. Haven't seen any issues with Cumulus yet and the graphs are good. Heavyweather came with the kit and seems pretty good except you have to export the data to a txt file and then to the review software.
  14. Xmas present. La Crosse WS2355 - I'm using it with HeavyWeather and Cumulus. Hoping to get to grips with the uploading/net stuff to post in my signature. It would have been great to get the wind sensor working last night.
  15. Assessed the damage. One bird table down but not out. One chimnea down and definately out. One sky dish pointing at right angles to where it should. On the plus side my new and first weather station worked. Rain sensor worked. 36.7mm in the last 24 hours I wish the aerial pole would get here soon so i can get the wind sensor up
  16. I got my first proper weather station for Xmas so i'm looking forward to this ppt so i can try it out the rain sensor As soon as i get my aerial pole i can get the wind sensor functional
  17. Is it me or does reading the models threads make no difference what so ever. It's convincing me more and more that no-one can predict anything beyond 7 days and to be accurate over 48hrs is a push. So many people are convinced that they now what is going to happen based on their fav model or Statospheric warming or whatever, and so many people are contradicting each other based on the same models etc. Let's face it guys and gals predicting winter weather in the UK is a stab in the dark most of the time. Most of the talk has gone from "mild and boring winter" to "mega storms" up until Xmas, plus those that recokn we'll have deep prolonged cold and snow for weeks on end. It's quiet exhusting. Maybe i should ban myself from looking at Models threads. I am still however tentatively hoping Mark Vogan is correct about the cold. His batting average has been pretty good up until now.
  18. I'm clinging onto Mark Vogans prediction that there will be a brief averaging of temps then a plunge into colder weather from the 15th with widespread snow leading up to Xmas. I know he has his detractors, but i'm very interested to see any changes in the models over the coming few days. Anyone else noticing the beginnings of a high over Greenland in some of the models over the coming week. Will it develop??? If he's right then i take my hat off to him. If he's wrong i'm holding out for colder weather to arrive after New year
  19. Wow. Is it me or are the the latest models runs throwing out a very wintery mix for next week? On second looks it might just be me
  20. i know nothing except what i can gleen on the forums and weatheronline charts. Is it me or is the 528 dam line and 850hPa -5 line shooting back up north in the latest models. I profess to know nothing but i bet Madden and Corbyn are feeling less and less confident and more and more stupid. Euro high moving but nothing like a Scandi or Greeny high developing any time soon. I can't see any significant cold digging in anytime before Christmas.
  21. There must be a sniff of the white stuff in the air or at least a fleeting glance way out in FI...AndyMusic is here. I'm glued to the model and winter threads at the moment. I'm quite happy with a mild Nov. Last year was very unusual for Nov and not long after New Year we had no snow and it was mild. Only about 4 - 6 weeks of proper winter. Gut feeling based on no facts whatsoever......a rapid change to cold temps mid to late Dec and possibly as late and New Year. Then a snow fest through Jan and Feb. An above average winter just doesn't feel right. Something is brewing out East. Look at all the snow in Russia.
  22. I tend not to join these boards until some snow is immenent. I've been watching the Winter threads like a hawk as i've had no snow since early Jan....I think. Definately had lying snow on Christmas Day. I am now however entering "Snowmonia". There isn't even a sniff of it on the horizon and only just in FI. I am clinging onto every hope that set ups will change very quickly and show a sharp change to coooooold weather and elusive white stuff, but reading the Model Threads and other Winter threads it's looking increasingly unlikely. Not even my frowned upon "forcasting by nature" is showing signs of winter. Plenty of berries...no birds stripping them yet....no squirrals "going nuts". Although i cling horribly to the "November cold enough to bear a duck, rest of winter will be nowt but slush and muck" therefore twisted logic.....warm November very cold winter.
  23. Pretty much stopped here. Lets see what happens as the afternoon wears on.
