Still no snow here this winter, and the clock's ticking . Although wasn't really expecting any today, I have never seen lowland Ceredigion get snow from a battleground event like that, I guess we're just too far west and close to the sea.
-
Just rain all day here with a top temp of 3C... felt very raw and cold all day, horrible really. Hoping for some snow Wednesday onwards then...
-
Check here for snow reports: http://uksnowmap.com/ There's a real mixture of rain and snow reports in Wales at the moment.
-
Dry here now Hope that wasn't it ...
-
It's now officially snowing here!!! Right on queue yay so happy!
-
Still sleety drizzle here for the past few hours. The ppt really needs to get heavier for a chance of some snowflakes
UPDATE: The sleet is getting heavier and looking more snow like !!!
-
The sleet is starting to get a little heavier now here, it's very wet but the way it's falling is mimicking snow if you know what I mean. Going to go and revise for my exam tomorrow afternoon now, will be back later.
-
Sky news weather has the front making slower progress than previously thought, and doesn't make it beyond the western most fringes til after 2pm.
-
Very light sleet here now .. at least something wintry is going on. I didn't notice it at first, hardly visible until I went outside and stuck my hand into it.
-
Just a few light spots of rain here too, nothing like the radar seems to be showing.
-
Radar now showing ppt coming into north west Wales.

Here's my prediction. Tomorrow morning: light patchy rain for western counties of Wales, very gradually spreading east. Temperatures a few degrees above freezing. Then, through the afternoon, the upper air temps should start to fall. Definitely snow on higher ground, then coming down to low levels through the afternoon and evening. good luck everyone!

i live in blackwood does anybody know how far asl i am?
Type your postcode into google maps, then select 'terrain' in the upper right hand control box. Look for the contor lines they should tell you

It's important not to take the BBC graphics too literally, they do often present rain when it's snow and vice versa. Also, for the people who miss out on this chance, we have a cold easterly set up that will have to be broken down in a similar set up at some point, providing another battleground event in the future.

Check out the forecast video for Wales here: http://www.itv.com/wales/weather/
In summary : patchy light rain tomorrow morning for most, then turning to snow on high ground and lower levels away from coast later in the day and through sun night. He also mentions the front hanging around on Tuesday giving a wintry mix.
Also says the yellow warning is likely to be increased to an amber warning.
-
Hmm... I do remember in past years the BBC weather graphics have exaggerated the rain/snow cut off point from the coasts as too far inland, and in reality the boundary has been much closer to the coasts than made out.
-
Hmmm... I have an exam on Monday afternoon, should I be worried :o
I do want to see snow, but typical for it to come that day of all days haha
-
Superb day here and went for a walk this morning in the frost with dazzling winter sunshine. Wish we could have a few more days of this to cure the January blues

Met Office:
Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:
Colder on Monday and Wednesday with scattered showers, these wintry, even to low levels at times. Milder on Tuesday, and late Wednesday, with some heavy rain. Windy; gales on Tuesday.

That Irish Sea sure is warm this Winter.
Is that because of the mild autumn we had? How long do you think it will take to cool down to what it should be?
-
'Raintoday' radar is already showing the rain turn to sleet in mid Wales, hope to see some soon
-
Got a really good feeling about waking up to some snow in the morning, dont know why as I only live just a few miles in from Borth
You could well see snow showers throughout tomorrow with the north westerly wind.

Sorry guys, I know it can be quite a wishy-washy term and I didn't mean to cause any confusion. What I meant by Cambrian Mountains was the usual definition that others have provided and by Wikipedia. The general very high upland area in mid Wales south of Machynlleth, east of Tregaron, west of Rhayader and north of Llanwrtyd Wells, as this picture illustrates :
-
We should see some interesting weather tomorrow then? I for one will be glad to see some falling snow, even if it doesn't stick. Cambrian mountains look like they're in the firing line with a westerly breeze.

Charts seem to have us in 'limbo land' this week then, with not much going on Neither too cold nor too mild :s
