  1. Hard one to call at the moment as the track of that low in the north sea isnt completely nailed but it looks like it will be curling down the east coast south of the Humber but snow showers will come in off the North sea just gonna have to nowcast and radar watch. Can't even say if its gonna be a hit and miss affair, met office go for frequent heavy and possible prolonged snow but thats what they said for today and i can recall about 5-6 showers of which 3 where decent and one of those was pretty impressive lay down several centimetres in around 15mins...

we seen a fair few hail showers today which has added a cm or 2 lol but wouldn't mind seeing some prolonged spells of snow

  2. All forecasts are suggesting this Northe Sea low is going to hit East Anglia however it's track seems a bit more northerly to me and it also appears to be developing a lot more than I was expecting.

I would appreciate any comments from some of our wiser and learned weather buffs.

    Many thanks

hope it does stay northerly, seems we could be in the firing line if it continues on its current course.

  3. Was just about to comment on that said 'streamer' just starting to feel its presence here just asked my daughter if its still snowing? Yes a steady flurry was her reply... i think Blyth Ashington are in the firing-line seems like its gonna miss Tyne & Wear for the 2nd time tonight, or well had quite an impressive shower earlier.

I'm struggling to keep awake, should turn off the central heating and pretend i'm back in the 70's..!! Dont think my daughter will be to impressed though..!!

we are having more slight hail and light snow showers here, is there anymore prolonged snowfall due for teesside tonight?

  4. No. It's a gamble on showers.

It looks like the threat of heavy snow tomorrow may have receded too.

Really, oh well still been a good winter so far here but cannot help but feel a little dissapointed some how, I think its seeing other parts of north east and central and southern parts of the country getting battered by the snow.

I thought this spell may have beaten the best spell I have ever seen regarding snow amounts and that was back in ( if I remember ) it was late October/early november 1991/92 it snows consistanly for a week here, we were even off school for a couple of days.

but this current spell seems to be peetering out on us.

  5. Temperatures have been over 0°C for over 6 hrs here on the coast and there is a slow thaw (dripping from roofs essentially) but upper lower temps of -10 and below are on their way. Although temps have been up to 3.4°C but when a shower hit it was of either hail, graupel or snow. I should'nt worry over the short term as cold sometimes severe will be around for sometime yet...!!

    where are you from NL?

  6. Dave at times i thought it must rain here but it just snowed even for a time when dew point was at 0.0 ohmy.gif lol anyways outside just roofs been dripping but keeps getting topped up with snow but on ground no snow is melting at all

And atm on the floor there must 5-8cm in drifts 8-12cm

yer your right snowman, not much snow is shifting from the ground, alot of the roof tops are now returning and patches of grass, the problem I've got is its not snowing to top it up and when we do get showers there now rain showers lol

  7. Observing the latest infa-red satellite images suggests so, certainly seem to be intensifying, probably has a lot to do with the lapse rates over the NE part of the North sea, with relatively warm seas and the encroaching lower upper temperatures. I havent the latest 500hpa's at the moment but 850's at -10 to -12 sure to cause surface convection.

thanks NL - I'll be keeping my fingers crossed, just to note there is quite a strong wind picking up now over the last 10 minutes or so.

  8. I cannot believe the temperature fluctuation in our region. I was very briefly up to 0.8c and 30mins ago was back down to -1.8c now back up to -0.6.

The 'snow free streamer' I am in looks to be closing up. i expect more showers after midnight.

Tell me about it, I'll be getting the barbacue out in the back garden soon if it continues to warm up at this rate
