  1. Sunshine and showers in Westbury. Showers seem to be developing quite quickly from the Bristol Channel/Mendips and moving ESE.
  2. Dry here save for the odd spit in the strong Westerly wind and extensively overcast. There really are some strange people around. I took my boy to watch a few trains at the station and a couple were stood next to a bench with their bags on the bench. I asked if they could move the bags so we could sit down and you'd think I'd asked them for a £grand the way they replied!!
  3. Apart from that unexpected drizzly, showery start it's turned into an increasingly sunny day, now mostly clear with small Cumulus and some Altocumulus. Quite breezy and 15.6c the maximum.
  4. Thoughts of the expected dry, bright day over already with light/drizzly rain in the last hour and radar showing similar covering a wide area of East Somerset and West Wiltshire!
  5. That isn't strictly true because yes those revised warnings were too late for the early evening storms but some of those same areas then had further severe, quickly developing conditions after midnight.
  6. The morning after the evening/night before is serene with sunshine, AltCas and warming quite quickly at 14.2c . I wonder if the cold front will spark into life as it moves through early afternoon. Goodness me what an evening/night that was!!
  7. To get 1 severe thunderstorm is quite rare in a year, to get 2 in 5 hours in April is incredible! About as rare as Beasts From The East! Oh yea lol.
  8. Constant thunder and frequent lightning moving in from the SSW for the second time in 5 hours!
  9. Unfortunately I can't get lightningmaps to show strikes when fully zoomed in, 3 zooms out from the closest shows 1 strike potentially literally on top of my house! Also the most intense radar echo when we had hail would have fallen between the 20.05 and 20.10 updates! Magnificent storm, what a weather year so far!
  10. Passing away to the NE now, lightning less frequent but if anything strikes are more powerful. Looking forward to reviewing the radar to see how it developed from 19.00 as nothing was on a direct hit so outflow storms formed very quickly SE of the initial main one.
  11. WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW! Big hail too, not even rain to start! Massive wind gusts from South then North. Insane lightning, shotgun thunder very close!
  12. Nonstop lightning and thunder passing West and now NW of Warminster. It's almost the perfect elevated storm except it's come before dark. Although having said that seeing the cloud structure is stunning!
  13. I'm now upstairs watching, seeing some incredible frequent lightning from this! Being in the middle has advantages when it's this close!
  14. Lightning seen to the West and fairly frequent thunder. It sounds and looks angry.
  15. Sat outside hearing distant rumbling. Net weather detector has a completely erroneous strike virtually on top of my house!
  16. (Presumably) Elevated storms crossing the channel now heading for the West Dorset/East Devon area.
  17. Sunny and warming quickly now at 18.1c , an hour ago it was still foggy/cloudy and below 12c!
  18. Low cloud/mist likely tomorrow morning then thundery showers Saturday pm.
  19. It is always windy in Warminster on the hottest days from the SE with the wind blowing off Salisbury Plain.
  20. We do seem to have jumped straight into summer. Still above 17c after 21.30 when we haven't reached 17c as a maximum this year before today!
  21. Had a big one buzz into the kitchen while I was cooking tea. Gave it the benefit of a whack with my recipe book! Points West forecast was speaking of a thundery breakdown Saturday night into Sunday.
  22. Warmest day for about 7 months. Time to open doors/windows for hours rather than minutes. Time to properly enjoy the garden. Wessex Water turn up doing loud, dusty work next door!!!!
