  1. Last time we had a great snowy spell late in winter was Feb 09, hot (well cold really lol) on it's heels came Dec 09 then Dec 10! That was 3 great spells in less than 2 years. Just saying.
  2. Ian's Points West forecast was interesting ; a cool down from Wednesday, slightly less cold Sunday then proper cold by Monday with MAX of only 2c shown!
  3. 12.2c, hazy sun, washing outside, windows open to air house, daffodils opening as I type, birdsong, everything is Spring like. Sees chart in MOD thread for 40th birthday next Wednesday, sheesh!!
  4. Yes, glorious misty/frosty and now sunny start. However I can see cloud to the West and showers on the radar!
  5. So I survived my work week and the prediction I made a few weeks ago re wintriness was wrong, but thanks to yesterday's troughs I got wet on 3 out of 5 days!! Now my attention turns to the potential cold weather, which will come hard for nature after today's Spring like feel. I happen to be turning 40 in 12 days, could it be snowman time!?
  6. Thanks Knocker. A few days ago I really thought we were looking forward to a settled period starting today, but no, several troughs brought showers today and fronts will be turning up over the weekend! Drizzle is guaranteed. When will we be front and trough free!!??
  7. I had a very memorable spooky occurrence 10 odd years ago, too much to type out here/now.
  8. Yet another day of cold rain! How many is that this winter! So exciting (sarcasm) to have had 2 days in a row with sleet mixed in during the heaviest bursts!!
  9. It's because their 14 day forecast says so! Did anyone save the info on the first day that 14 day forecast was available? To see what it will be like once that initial day 14 turns up!
  10. It was dry throughout the day in Warminster, lots of sunshine, a bitter wind and great cloudscapes as CBs passed to the W/SW and N/NE, sometimes close enough to see white fallstreaks. So my week of outdoor work arrives and 2 of the 5 days look wet. Not too bad percentage wise, but it is Sod's law when considering 11 of the last 12 weekdays have been mostly fine with the odd day out being the only 1 I had to work on!! Similar happened in October half term too!
  11. It may have been the 4th consecutive wet Saturday but this afternoon actually cheered up brightly in Westbury from about 3pm until sunset. I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was expecting this coming week to do me in workwise by being the most wintry of the season. It seems I am going to suffer my usual fate of being rained on!
  12. That was a fun hour, the best snow my boy has seen falling and he loved it, also the heaviest I have seen for years but there was no settling.
  13. Mark this in history, some decent intensity of precipitation has made it past the Welsh mountains lol! Bursts of snow blowing in at the moment, very blustery showers and gusty NW wind. Didn't see this coming earlier when it was clear, sunny and with a patterned frost on cars * . Wasn't expecting 15mm of rain overnight either. * Incidentally, does anybody know why/how those amazing 'leafy' frost patterns form?
  14. The last 3 days have been wonderful but no glorious sunshine to come today. Cloud has thickened quick enough to deny a colourful sunrise, the sky was still mostly clear an hour ago. Surprised to see showers on the radar over Somerset this early too.
  15. We have lived here for just over 5 years and today is the first time snow has still been on the ground approaching midday! Everything in the sun has thawed though.
  16. Knocker, appreciate your work in here, what is the timing looking like for Saturday's rain getting into the West Country? I fear a 4th consecutive wet Saturday! Thank you.
  17. I seen approximately 200 snowflakes in an hour lol. Still, my boy pointed excitedly at them so that was cool!
  18. Radar shows light snow in the Bristol region so some of us must be seeing something, these flurries are associated from those that formed on a trough further NE last night. Today into this evening and early night could spring a few surprises as the main front edges SE. Khodds, I don't think temperature will be an issue as cold air is firmly in situ and dew points are low. Meanwhile I've just realised the sun is catching my sensor, the temperature reading has jumped from -1.1c to above freezing in 5 minutes! That might suggest why I had an early maximum yesterday!
  19. In the bleak midwinter frosty wind made moan. Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone. Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow. First sentence = tick
  20. Upgrade for Tuesday IMO having watched Points West and national forecasts. Snow mentioned for Somerset on the local forecast then frontal snow shown across the region on the national, admittedly decaying through the day as the front moves East. Be prepared for it to stay further West though!
  21. Breakfast time was really exciting today, we watched as it sleeted outside!!!!!!!!
