  1. I got mine watching Countryfile in awe at how much snow fell at Adam Henson's farm in upland Gloucestershire! It really brought home how close we were to a memorable December for the whole region.
  2. It's a million times better than if that front had been 100-150 miles further East! (Sorry Knocker!!)
  3. Some surfaces are probably lethal though, they are here, 0.6c, some frost on cars and frozen droplets on trees etc, crescent moon right now but conditions keep changing between clear-mist-fog-mist-clear!
  4. First park visit of 2018 for me and my boy, now home playing in the garden. Well he's playing and pottering around and I'm squeezed into the one available sunny corner sat on a chair drinking tea!!
  5. It may have only been 2 days of damp gloom but it seemed longer! Such a relief to open curtains and see the crescent moon!
  6. In April to October a weak warm front from the South would be welcome as it gently ushers in warmer/thundery potential. However tonight/tomorrow it's 99% unwelcome as all it will do is bring gloom, slowly increasing temperatures replacing today's near perfect winter set up and patchy drizzle. The other 1% is the slimmest chance of snow grains rather than drizzle.
  7. Possibly a few flurries coming in from the E/NE this morning, radar shows them from Malmesbury towards Newbury heading SW.
  8. Thought you (and Gibby probably too) would have showers judging by the sky to my W/NW. We had this kind of set up numerous times last summer (low pressure and wind convergence) so I expect it to stay fine here until late pm.
  9. Ridiculous gusting wind again since mid morning along with a marked drop in temperature since lunch time, however the weeks trend for fine afternoons after unsettled mornings is continuing.
  10. We always have a mostly fine blowy day after a deep overnight low. Happened last June too.
  11. Best squall line in ages! Even hints of weak tornadic activity with rain swirling around for half a minute and hitting all sides of the house. Also as others have stated the wind is worse now the rain has eased.
  12. If we're looking for positives towards colder conditions today is a good start. Last night's Countryfile gave me the impression that the balmy weekend would continue however here we are at 13.00 and it's not reached 7c yet and a frost looks likely tonight.
  13. Woken by torrential rain and gusting wind at about 05.30 and again an hour later, pretty sure I heard thunder in between too. Very benign now, 9.8c .
  14. At 06.00 I was hopeful of playing out in snow with my boy. At 08.00 it is disappointingly melting and mostly resembles ice! Still, 2 snow events in December so a huge improvement on recent winters!
  15. It seems my sensor is reading incorrectly, so yesterday's 14.5c max is probably wrong. It was reading 10.8c at 08.00 which was definitely wrong! Anyway, how lovely to have sunshine for the first time since last Tuesday! Already turning overcast though.
  16. Happy Christmas everyone! Today has been manic fun with our 17 month old boy! Admittedly I have taken my eye off the ball over the weekend, however I didn't anticipate such a deluge this evening or a max of 14.5c!!
  17. Have a great time, it's fantastic, but don't expect sunshine as it's likely to be freezing fog in the morning which will likely lift into misty low cloud. Longleat is also a colder area compared to Warminster which is only a few miles away, if you see Warminster predicted as 8c max expect Longleat to be several degrees lower.
  18. One of my fascinations within this thread is how variable temperatures are in our region. In complete contrast to the above, after being 10.4c at 22.00 last night, it is a frosty/icy morning here with the temperature still dropping, 0.7c at the moment.
  19. Wonderful day to be out walking, temperature has just nudged above 6c but I expect a rapid drop in an hour or so.
  20. Very patchy, more a few hundred yards walk from home but then nothing after that!
