No sign of any snow melt over night,  still a very wintry  scene out there this morning :) even had a snow flurry while I was in the garden putting the bird feeders out and de-icing the bird bath.

I don't think snow would ever melt under these conditions, perhaps just dry up/evaporate.

A general question , could we term the showers currently stretched NE to SW in the Bristol Channel as a 'reverse streamer' ?

That happened to mine yesterday until the strengthening sun got to work from about 11.00 to 15.00 and it dried despite continuing flurries.

We aren’t talking about your bog standard eastily here!! This airmass will be incredibly unstable, organised troughing is more likely than unlikely!! Then we get the systems pushing up into extremely cold air! We WILL be talking about this very cold spell for a long time!

Not many forecasted dry easterlies end up being dry, this beats isn’t forecast to be dry at all, the radar Sunday night into Monday and thereafter could be something to behold, I’ve no doubt at all we will all be in here urging showers, bands of snow or troughs to head West! Embrace this spell if you like cold, and brace yourselves for the cold because it’s coming!!!

And we should also be prepared for snow to die out as it heads Westwards, especially inland, as happens the 'normal' way around!

However I am excited at the prospect of big snow showers developing in the daytime.

There must be a chance of a reverse Bristol Channel streamer or South Coast streamers?

I have my sister staying with me this week. She just told me that on the BBC weather, they mentioned something colder beyond this weekend, in to next week. Is that normal for the BBC? They've seriously put all of their eggs in one basket if they have. I've seen that go wrong on many occasions!

It's because their 14 day forecast says so!

Did anyone save the info on the first day that 14 day forecast was available? To see what it will be like once that initial day 14 turns up!
