  1. Can anyone tell me the reason the snow doesn't appear to make it to my area? Is it due to the 850's or is it just unfavourable location in such a setup?
  2. A slight glimmer of hope then because I'm expecting lots of rain here. Now I have a tiny bit of hope now but I've heard a lot to suggest that i'll get a lot of rain maybe turning to snow.
  3. Oh 50-100 miles, that's a fair bit of movement. The recent event I got a return of about 4 inches, so not bad but would be great to see that bettered. Considering the fall in Feb 2009 not too bad at all really. Anymore would be something but seems very uncertain.
  4. It doesn't sound ideal for my neck of the woods. Sounds like the conditions won't be quite right. Also being so far out it could become even less favourable right? It sounds that our Midland and Northern counterparts shall see some exciting stuff..!
  5. the rain turning to snow....is this the result of cold air undercutting? So if it does turn to heavy snow it should settle but how much we get depends on how long that takes to happen if it does. Potentially we could be in for some bad flooding?
  6. Merry Christmas all...!! I keep hearing reference to lots of rain in the south, over on TWO too. Is this right? Seems a shame really, does this mean the required uppers won't reach us or due to London heat island and Thames Valley? Can anyone offer some info on this? Sounds like the midlands is in for some snow. It's actually pleasant out, sunshine and cold at 1c but it doesn't feel that bad. Birds were chirping too...
  7. Never said it hadn't panned out. In fact we've had good falls. It was a question as to why, like what's coming up that's so special...! This could be the only cold spell, who's to say that the remainder of winter won't be mild and wet? Question has got nothing to do with lack of snow/cold in my area as I've had a decent amount but I'd be most surprised if this is what our winter will generally turn out like. So no nimbyism a question inviting discussion which I guess you didn't get.
  8. That's what I'm trying to find out. I though it might be a North thing rather than the South. As I haven't a clue what the charts says. I'm guessing there'll be snow up North but little in South and South East?
  9. Well to be fair to him it doesn't take much to cause chaos down here. A few cm's and everything stops!
  10. So it could miss parts of the South and South East? This is often the case whereby these areas can miss out on such events. Seems normal to me really. Could be then.....surely charts have produced cold/snowy events that haven't occured. I would love to see something like that though so can only hope it is going to come off. However, as I've seen little of decent cold/snow I always feel it is most unlikely.
  11. Brilliant synoptics and a winter to remember.......? Why would it be...?
  12. LOL I do like all this talk of a big event coming up. It sounds a bit far fetched.....! It'd take some conditions for that to come off.
  13. Quite why is it so excellent? I'm a bit confused as to what all the excitement is about this early. Then I asked the question before and never got a reply.
  14. Really? I's that possible down here? Would be interesting to see it come off but it sounds a bit extreme for us? This spell is the worst I've seen it here. It's a long way off so I'd imagi e it'll change, right?
  15. What is it that's spectacular about them?.....what are they saying? I'm not really sure how to read and analyse them. Cheers
  16. Yes, but will it be the same? These events are rare in my area. A second time in one winter seems a bit much!
  17. Current temp of -1.5c here, misty and cloudy. Lots of lying snow about which is of course frozen! Not expecting anymore snow before it turns milder. Don't get many events like this around here and I'd be surprised if it happens again. Best start to winter I've seen!
  18. It has missed me, had some drizzle. It's about -1.7c but snow didn't show, maybe next time. No shortage of ice though!
  19. The times I've heard 'when I was younger' over the last few days. Best wintery spell I've experienced....can only imagine how it was back 'in the day' lol..!
  20. Mmm well maybe but I'm actually from Reading and in Slough due to work interesting reply though! Nevertheless, regionally I'd say it is isolated, as there's no snow this side but to the West of Berks there is.
  21. So it should be heading this way? I can see the snow on traffic cams over in Reading. It's heading South though isn't it and I'm East..
