  1. Well it's plain and simple today. Baltic and grey. Snow gates remain closed so now action unfortunately. Charts are interesting later in the week for sure. Be a fantastic finish to get buried North of England and Wales style. I am aware that doesn't suit NL and such people, but it's a possible solution. A fun week watching the charts. Be surprised if we don't see a snowy spell before summer. I think this is the 7th day in a row it's snowed here.
  2. Yeh, the drifts to side of the southbound side of the A90 opposite the Phillips garage just north of Tealing are spectacular. More akin to Glenshee. Huge.
  3. To tie in LS's NAE posted chart of the uppers for Saturday at lunchtime, as I can't post the charts from tablet my are has uppers of -12, dew point of -5 and 2m temp of 0. Not sure if swear filter is on, so ill resist, but that is ridiculous. Potentially the coldest set up of he season. Only thought is that it's possible quite a few of us may be too close to the front for convection. Someone more experienced may comment but the layer of high cloud thrown ahead of the front may hamper convection considerably.
  4. Yeh some showers again. I have my new evening dusting appearing. Starting to seem quite normal to be snowing.
  5. A snowy morning here. All surfaces white and fairly heavy snow falling.
  6. Showers activity appears to be increasing off the coast between Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
  7. Snow falling back at your home in Fife LS? Nice showers there has covered the cars, roofs and grass again. Not on the salty roads.
  8. Also the fact they are struggling with frontal position and fact it's snow, so panic will ensue. Snowing here just now. Moderate with large flakes.
  9. Yeh some passing light showers. Dry snow falling again. New dusting. There are a few showers on the radar at sea. Who would have thought we'd still be posting this at this time of year. I truely sypothise and understand the concerns by the farming communities on how this may potentially impact business. It has been an outstanding season at Glenshee. I've been up nearly every weekend since early January and 2 visits pre new year. More than likely another 2 or 3 visits before the end, perhaps more depending how the Ptarmigan at Cairngorm fairs. This weekend, I'll take the option of stalled front to our south and maintain the Easterly flow and low uppers and dreamily witness an emourmus breakdown in around 2 to 3 weeks if that's ok.
  10. Could you please post the uppers as I can't access them at work.
  11. Couple of factors that make a huge difference. I'm a few miles up a modest hill at he back of Broughty Ferry / Monifieth. So a few miles back from the immediate coast. Also due to my exact location, if the wind goes due east , or to the north of east, then the air transits across land from as far away as Arbroath or Montrose. A long run, losing the coastal modification. If however the wind goes south of east then the air is straight off the sea with maximum modification.
  12. Have to say that looking back at yesteday afternoon when LS posted the map of disruption, he was right on the money. Credit where it's due. Fine job. I realise quite a few missed out, but my area had the best falls of the winter. I'm guessing around 4" this morning but impossible to gauge because of the drifting etc. Some of the breakdowns may have delivered more but they are nothing like as spectacular to watch. The results this morning aswell with everything facing east covered is very special. Still some wet snow showers ongoing this evening but a fair bit of the snow has melted. Won't forget yesterday evening in a hurry. Fantastic. Serious lack of sleep though. Going round all the windows in my house all night watching the blizzards. Felt like s**t at work today though. Happy days.
  13. Good evening BT. Glad to see your getting in on the action. You seem to often get dealt a s**t hand. I think there may be more happening later in the night and morning going by warnings and bbc 24 update just now with Jay Wynne (correct me if I'm wrong) Showers still rattling through here. Large flakes then dust snow combined with very gusty wind. Everything is white but no increase in depth. That could just be my greed looking for 6".
  14. LS, are the showers we currently have going to develop into the occlusion as the group together or are they the occlusion to the north of the low? Or does something else happen through the night?
  15. Ref BBC Reporting Scotland weather, Have you ever heard anyone so loathed to say how snowy it will be !!
  16. Love the way it doesn't stop snowing between the showers.
  17. Moderate snow. Large flakes. Everything white. A cm or two . This looks to be fun. Radar is intensifying. Great that its lying.
  18. Love it. MO is showing heavy snow in Dundee from 18:00 till 09:00 tomorrow. Then light snow for the rat of the day.
  19. What are thoughts on the following ? Is the current precipitation likely to increase or intensify as the uppers drop or is there a specific front moving across?
  20. Yeh I have to agree. This could be very special. Possibility of short period slightly warmer air to the south but this may move or change. Latest MO warning a huge upgrade in my eyes.., Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Change Region Yellow Alert of Snow19 Mar 2013, 00:05 Issued at - 18 Mar 2013, 05:29 Valid from - 19 Mar 2013, 00:05 Valid to - 19 Mar 2013, 23:59 During Tuesday an area of sleet and snow over Scotland will move south into parts of Northern England and Northern Ireland. Ice will also be a hazard. Over Northern Ireland and Northern England snow accumulations are likely mainly above 200 m, where 5 - 10 cm is possible. Over eastern Scotland there could be 15 cm even at low levels, with drifting possible in strong to gale force easterly winds, and 30 cm or more above 400 m. The public should be aware that some disruption to travel may well develop, and depending on subsequent information, this warning may be upgraded to amber across eastern Scotland The public is advised to take extra care, further information and advice can be found here: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/
  21. Sleet here. Was all rain yesterday so going in the correct direction for me. I'm quite pleased with this actually.
  22. I still think it may go either way. My thought is snow will be falling, but may be too modified to accumulate, but tiny variations to the good and who knows.
  23. Been at Glenshee today. Great conditions still. Snowed on and off all day, but even at car park level which is 650 ms (+/- 2000 ft,) the snow was melting on the cars. I guess that some areas are gonna get huge totals over the next 3 days. Hope to be on the correct side of margin, but knife edge stuff here. Time will tell. Everything possible crossed.
