  6. Yep, unfortunately I have to agree, completely off the scale maps. Been closely watching the models for about 15 years and can't remember seeing anything like this.....lets hope they weaken a lot over the next few runs, particularly for us in the NW. Last Wednesday was bad enough here but it would be a light breeze in comparison
  7. Taken on my mobile on way to work this morning (Dundrod area)......poor quality pics but they show just how bad things are up on the higher ground!
  8. Very heavy snow in Antrim town (25m asl)
  9. Shes blowing like mad here....getting windy outside too
  10. Met Eireann still going for t-storms in the latest forecast..... "27 June 2012 22:27 Continuing warm and humid tonight and Thursday morning with further spells of heavy rain in many areas, thunderstorm activity and hail all leading to some flooding. Temperatures not falling below 13 to 16 degrees."
  11. Thanks AJ......had some tremendous thunder and incredible rain.. Hopefully a taste of things to come tomorrow
  12. Big storm approaching Antrim Town around 8pm this evening:
  13. Fantastic stuff aj.....thanks for sharing it. Superb by UK standards. Check this one out taken across the pond in Chicago in 2008: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6R5JQuHAE0
  14. That was some storm in the Antrim area......forks stretching right across the sky, ground-shaking thunder. Rare intensity for this part of the world, it was more like something from the US midwest! Well done on spotting the funnel, missed that one myself. There is another batch heading this way but it doesn't look to be electrified at the moment.
  15. Very nice funnel cloud in Co Antrim this evening, lasted a good 15 mins. Great cloud structure but no lightning seen. Managed to grab a pic using my phone so apologies for the poor quality.
  16. Blitzortung showing quite a few sferics over SE Ireland.
  17. Couple of storms also passed through here. Showers seem to be losing intensity now as the main rain band moves north.
  18. Certainly looks like you guys are in for a real soaking
  19. Met O have issued a flash warning for N Ireland: Heavy thundery showers this afternoon are expected to give accumulations of 15mm within a 3 hour period, with isolated accumulations through the afternoon and evening possibly as high as 50mm. The public are advised to take extra care and refer to TrafficWatchNI.com (operational hours 07.00 to 21.00 Mon to Fri and 09:00 to17:00 on Saturdays) for further advice on road conditions. 20. Continuing chance of something for Ireland, latest from Met Eireann: Today: Dry for a time this afternoon across the southeast, north and northwest. However rain will soon become widespread, turning heavy and persistent, with some spot flooding likely. Risk of thunder too. Very mild and humid, with highest temperatures 17 to 21 degrees. Winds will be mainly moderate variable, increasing fresh along eastern counties later. Tonight: The heavy rain will persist into the early part of tonight, clearing northeastwards later, with the continued risk of spot flooding as well as thunder. Breezy, with lowest temperatures 9 to 12 degrees, and fresh and gusty northwest winds.
  21. Cant understand why Met O haven't issued a weather warning. We've had numerous heavy snow showers that are accumulating here in Antrim , I imagine conditions must be much worse over the higher ground.
  22. Nothing here in Antrim apart from crystal clear skies. Beats the mild/drizzly muck of recent winters Zero thaw today yet again, becoming an exceptional cold spell despite the lack of deep snow in this neck of the woods.
