  1. Yeah, outlook is for extreme cold but bone dry conditions apart from coastal locations. Dammit! Off topic but southern counties in england look like taking a real hammering today...30-40 cms according to Metalert
  2. Showers building right across the north coast and moving south. More of a concern is the temp - hovering just above 0C. Very marginal for snow on low ground. Hope I'm wrong!
  3. Update from BBC: Published at 09:00 on 4th January All times are GMT (Europe/London, GMT+0000) (Next update at 09:00 on 11th January) Written by Elizabeth Saary Summary Staying very cold December was a particularly cold month with temperatures below average in most areas. It now looks as though much of January will continue in the same vein with harsh frosts and further heavy snowfalls.
  4. Dublin ensemble showing unbelievable cold for the next week, with a return of milder conditions later. Worryingly dry though!
  5. Heavy rain/sleet freezing instantly as it hits the ground here. Not good! GFS still showing potential for Monday night/Tues morning though this is being downplayed by both METO and Met Eireanne.
  6. Joe no insult intended mate, just that your readings seem slightly on the low side. Dont let this put you off posting your reports which i thoroughly enjoy. What a cold spell we are experiencing! I know that your part of the world (and even more so in Ballymena about 20 miles to your south), can experience fantastic snowfalls when the rest of NI has nothing
  7. Chance of showers tomorrow but dry on Sunday. Monday brings the promise of something more substantial.
  8. Hi Joe, these are the current official temps across NI at 16.00. Have to agree with Baltic - your readings look a couple of degrees on the low side. Aldergrove -0.5 °C WSW 2 mph 12 km 1011 hPa, Rising Ballykelly -0.6 °C E 5 mph 5 km 1011 hPa, Rising Ballypatrick Forest 2.9 °C N 8 mph 35 km 1010 hPa, Rising Castlederg 2.2 °C WNW 5 mph 35 km 1011 hPa, Rising Glenanne 0.1 °C NW 10 mph 30 km 1010 hPa, Rising St Angelo 1.6 °C NW 6 mph 15 km 1012 hPa, Rising
  9. Looking slightly more promising for extreme northern counties going by latest METO forecast: Headline: Staying cold with some wintry showers. Light winds.. This Evening and Tonight: A mainly dry night with clear spells and another widespread frost but becoming cloudier in the north with sleet and snow showers before dawn. A chilling blustery Northwest wind blowing. Minimum temperature -4 °C. Saturday: Remaining frosty with patchy ice. Sleet and snow showers, especially over counties Antrim and Londonderry. Brighter across southern border areas. A chilling Northeast wind developing, particularly along coastal areas later. Maximum temperature 2 °C. Updated: 1505 on Fri 1 Jan 2010
