living in blaenavon which is 350m asl we often get heavy snow but travel 2 miles down the valley to abersychan at 150m asl they get sleet.... people further down the valley in pontypool and cwmbran can never believe how much snow we have at the top of the valley... so never under estimate the hills of the s.Wales valleys.

what's expert opinion on this board for the snow in s.e.Wales tomorrow??? anyone willing to stick their neck out?.....im guessing its either nothing or will be worse than fridays snow.

Im 34 years old..... im a bit of a big kid and luv the snow but..... i have seen far worse snow in my life time and for 10 -12 winters we had very mild average winters in that! The snow of Feb 1996 was more than we have had now, we had more snow in Jan 2010 so what im realy asking is have the met office and the media over hyped todays weather did we really need a RED weather warning that caused people to panic buy ! I think the main difference with todays snow and other snow events is that it has hit the towns and cities close to sea level, living 350 M ASL we are use to snow!

Had a few inches here in blaenavon..... Not as much as i wouhave thought its fine snow falling what can we expect through out the day?

well out of the three towns Pontypool, Abergavenny and Blaenavon..... there will only be one winner with snow depth lol being at around 350M ASL Blaenavon always gets it worse than most around the same area. I have seen heavy snow in Blaenavon and travel 2 miles down the road to Cwmavon and its raining.....

Just had a quick look on Met Office and BBC Weather sites and both giving snow for Blaenavon NP4 tomorrow as well as the heavy stuff on Friday. How much are we expected to get on Thursday? if any...... and has everyone taken their eye of Thursdays snow with all the hype of Fridays 'event'

Well im hopeing for more than we had the few times its snowed hardly enough to cover my garden........ maybe because we are are more use to having a good dumping here that the loast lot was so disappointing!

-7 this morning up in gods country...... Blaenavon that is! Its a cold one.... How much can we expect to see here?? We still got snow lying from the previous two poor efforts of snow... lol and the Coity Mountain is still white. Cracking moon and red sky at around 7am this morning!

NIce frost this morning here in North Gwent (Blaenavon) ...... nice to see some proper winter weather. Fair play it has been mild over the past month or so but we have rarely got over 7oC here.

Whats all this about the end of winter?? We are only 11 days into Jan.... Winters in Wales only ever get going in Jan and Feb that when we have the worst of the snow and cold.......... We have had snow in April and the first weekend in May in the past.

Heard a rumour today from someone who had spoken to someone else lol who has been put on stand by for heavy snow next week? (This person works for Cardiff Airport keeping the run ways clear of snow).. Any truth in heavy snow forecast for next week? many thanks

Why is there a weather warning for S E Wales for heavy snow for today? issued this morning? How much are we looking at getting tomorrow? and where is it going to hit?

Been snowing on and off all morning here in Blaenavon, but it has increased over the past 30 mins and sticking on the pavements and grass, also on the car park in work so lets hope it keeps up!
