Indeed they tend to get a lot of this in the Alps with the leeward side of the mountain much milder and drier than the other,

In Wales NE Wales can get very mild on SW winds, with Hawarden often being the warmest place in Wales for this reason.

A lot more detail in the link below.

    Only 2 options then......

    1) relocate the whole city to a sweet spot.

    2) shave a bit off the mountains and pop the waste in swansea bay

Actually asked my hubby if we could move to Canada today

The small low over St Malo in Normandy should arrive by 4-5AM for the Beast's goodbye present. (The Euro 4 model has it too.) Could be a few hours of intense wet flake PPN at the same time as the lowest traffic flow leaving some pretty hairy road conditions come sunrise. Eyes down for the radar watch. Location and timing is one for the die-hard all-nighter snow fans amongst you!

Yes but will it snow in Swansea .......seriously though will it???? Been quite sad today was like father christmas never came :sorry: but I've been good all year

Interesting to know if anyone posts in here from Newport bit further north across from the Severn. Shower has rapidly expanded from N Bristol as it crossed the Severn.

My daughter in Newport and she said it' really started to come down atm

Dry patch nightmares starting to come true.

Its one of those occasions where you can look on in awe to the line of thick cloud in the distance and know that area is getting a pasting whilst nothing where you stand .

Suppose Swansea is still paying back for that NNW event that dumped a good 4 inches in a very specific snow streamer locale - 2009 was it?

We must have had that with an extortionate interest rate if still paying for it now .

Ah well early days atm ....???

I' m only hoping we were kept in the amber for a reason

  5. I was 7 in 82 and lived in north Wales. Remember my dad taking me and my sister to school (school was indeed open but think it must have been the day before the big one) and couldn't see hand in front of face and the snow was coming over top of my red wellies :D. Got sent home a bit later. Then woke up next morning and drifts covered over down stairs windows (had to dig out of house) supplies had to be air lifted into town and we spent the days building snow houses and forts in the drifts

They use the NetWx-SR/MR model for their forecast https://www.netweather.tv/charts-and-data/netwx-mr

Looking at the precipitation charts it shows nothing over parts of West and South West Wales on Thursday! This is what I was on about when I posted earlier... snow shield between Swansea and Carmarthen that I keep consistently seeing! But I'm trying to be positive for snow... I'm sure there will be a dumping

    What is the orange? Sleet?

  8. Love the cold and snow it my fav time of year. Am getting increasingly annoyed/concerned about the slowness in getting the message out to the vulnerable whether it be cold or cold and snow. England have their public health warnings which has gone to amber, judging by which the seriousness of the coming cold stops at the border! Public health Wales have a tweet! A blinking tweet! My mother and father are not on Twitter!
